After an eventful offseason and a regular season filled with media drama, MVP Aaron Rodgers is looking like he will repeat. In Week 17, the Green Bay Packers clinched the top overall seed and a first-round bye. Thanks to another good game for Rodgers, an update in the NFL MVP odds views him as the runaway to win.

However, with it being a media-voted award, will they give Aaron Rodgers the MVP following the season he had?

Aaron Rodgers Runaway in NFL MVP Odds

In terms of who deserves the NFL MVP, there is no doubt. Typically, the leader in the NFL MVP odds is the quarterback on one of the league’s best teams. If you want to give the award to the true meaning of the award, the most valuable player to their team, Aaron Rodgers tops that list as well. We have seen how terrible the Packers and Coach of the Year candidate Matt LaFleur have looked without Rodgers. Yet, with him in the lineup, the Packers are 13-2.

While Rodgers’ stats may not be as good as last season, he is still performing like an MVP. In 15 games, Aaron Rodgers has completed 68.6% of his passes for 3,977 yards, 35 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Despite the broken toe, Rodgers has also added 94 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

2021 NFL MVP Odds

NFL betting MVP odds are taken from BetMGM Sportsbook.

Aaron Rodgers (-400)Tom Brady (+550)Joe Burrow (+1200)
Jonathan Taylor (+1400)Cooper Kupp (+3000)Josh Allen (+4000)
Patrick Mahomes (+5000)Kyler Murray (+8000)Dak Prescott (+10000)

Tom Brady looks to be the only other player in the MVP conversation. However, with Chris Godwin out for the season, Antonio Brown getting cut and Mike Evans hobbled, it’s essentially impossible for him to make up this ground in one week. Rodgers will also likely sit at least one half next week, if not the entire game, so Rodgers won’t even have the opportunity to do enough damage to knock him out of the top spot.

Fighting his way up the NFL MVP odds is Joe Burrow, who clinched the AFC North on Sunday. His past two weeks have been historic, passing for 971 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions. However, it looks to be a case of “too little too late.”

The non-quarterback with the highest NFL MVP odds is Jonathan Taylor. The Indianapolis Colts running back has been incredible this season and deserves some MVP votes. He has run for 1,085 yards and 12 touchdowns over his past eight weeks, totaling 100+ yards in seven of the games.
