Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 17 RBs

Start: Cam Akers Fantasy Outlook vs. Chargers

The term league winner gets thrown about quite often in fantasy circles for late-season players who emerge to carry their grateful owners to a league championship. Cam Akers has the opportunity to do just that emerging as a startable RB over the last four weeks. After last week’s performance rushing for 118 yards and three scores while adding on another two catches for 29 yards, Akers belongs in all lineups this week with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on deck.

Start: Brian Robinson Fantasy Outlook vs. Browns

Coming off a 22-carry, 58-yard performance against the San Francisco 49ers, it may be tough to put Brian Robinson back in your lineup this week. However, last week Robinson and his backfield mate Antonio Gibson were both recommended sits with a tough matchup against the 49ers, who only allow 13.2 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs. This week, he gets a matchup with the Cleveland Browns who allow 24.6 fppg.

Sit: Rachaad White Fantasy Outlook vs. Panthers

With the league championship on the line, you want to start players who have secure volume. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers relying more heavily on Leonard Fournette last week, Rachaad White took a backseat. With only seven carries and four receptions, which he turned into 53 total yards, White was able to save his fantasy box score by tacking on a receiving touchdown. While the matchup with the Carolina Panthers is not imposing, the drop in usage makes White too risky for championship week.

Sit: Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. Fantasy Outlook vs. Patriots

With Jeff Wilson Jr. back, he and Raheem Mostert split the backfield touches equally last week. Mostert had eight carries for 45 yards and two catches for four yards while Wilson had nine carries for 37 yards and a touchdown and one reception for three yards. This week, with a matchup against the New England Patriots who allow only 16.0 fppg to opposing RBs, neither is a recommended play. With your championship on the line, look for volume elsewhere than the Miami Dolphins backfield.
