Fantasy football Week 4 is upon us, so let’s set our sights on setting the best possible lineup. If you have Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Taylor or Saquon Barkley, you know what to do. If you don’t and have to make a tough choice, this is the place to be for those tough fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em decisions.

Welcome to our weekly fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article for RBs!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 4 RBs

Start: Dameon Pierce Fantasy Outlook vs. Chargers

After starting the season with a 4.9 fantasy point game, with 33 yards on 11 carries and a reception for six yards, Dameon Pierce’s role and production have increased each week. In Week 2, he had 16 touches for 77 yards (8.7 fantasy points). He topped that last week, with 20 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown, then he added two receptions for 21 yards.

This week, Dameon Pierce gets a matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, who are giving up 23.5 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs. Dameron Pierce is an obvious start in our fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article, as his workload and matchup will ensure an RB2 finish.

Start: Khalil Herbert Fantasy Outlook vs. Giants

If David Montgomery, who left last week’s game with an ankle injury, is ruled out this week, Khalil Herbert becomes a plug-and-play RB2. Last week, after Montgomery was injured, Herbert toted the ball 20 times for 157 yards and scored twice on the ground. He also added another two receptions for 12 yards. With a matchup against the New York Giants, who are allowing 22.3 (fppg) to opposing RBs, Herbert is a must-start, as the Bears have turned back the clock, and play the game of football, like the forward pass is a trick play. They are running the ball over 65% of the time, which is 11% more than the next-closest team (Cleveland Browns).

If you had him stashed on your bench or dropped a large percentage of your FAAB to get him, put Khalil Herbert in your lineup this week.

Sit: Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook vs. Broncos

Last week was Josh Jacobs’ first RB2 or better finish on the season, facing the Tennessee Titans despite finishing each of the first three weeks with double-digit touches. In Weeks 1-3, he has put up 8.3, 9.1 and 14.7 fantasy points despite playing against defenses that have given up 23.5, 21.0 and 22.3 (fppg) to opposing RBs. This week, he draws his toughest matchup yet, facing the Denver Broncos, who have held opposing RBs to only 10.6 (fppg).

While it is tough to sit a player who is locked into the volume that Jacobs is having, he has a lower floor and ceiling this week and is better off as a flex play than an RB2. Start another option if you have one.

Sit: Clyde Edwards-Helaire Fantasy Outlook vs. Buccaneers

The worst RB matchup of the week, however, belongs to Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who through the first three weeks of the season is the RB4, averaging 17.7 (fppg). He has been very efficient with his touches, with 22 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown on the ground. CEH also has caught all 12 of his targets for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He has put up 22.4, 15.8 and 14.9 fantasy points, but this week he draws the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are only giving up 9.4 (fppg) to opposing RBs.

Unlike Jacobs, Edwards-Helaire does not have the volume on his side. He has a steady floor with his receptions, but this fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em article suggests leaving Clyde Edwards-Helaire on your bench for this week.
