The NASCAR Cup Series season has reached its All-Star Weekend. The drivers who won a race in 2021 or 2022, are a previous NASCAR All-Star Race winner (still competing full time), or a former Cup Series Champion (Still competing full time) are already entered into the main event race. Drivers who are not entered into the main event can win a stage in the open or win the fan vote to be entered into the main event. The winner of the main event will earn himself a million-dollar payday. No points, just racing hard for the money.

NASCAR All-Star Open and Main Event Format

The 2022 NASCAR All-Star Open will consist of three stages. The first two stages are 20 laps each with each green and yellow flag lap counting. The leader at the end of the stage will be the stage winner and be awarded a spot in the main event. The final stage will be 10 laps and only green flag laps will count. The open winner will get the third spot in the main event. The final spot in the main event will be awarded to the fan vote winner. These will be the last four drivers into the main event race.

The All-Star Race will be four stages long. The first three stages will each be 25 laps. The winner of the first stage will start first in the final stage as long as he finishes above 15th or better in stages 2 and 3. The winner of stage 2 will start second in the final stage as long as he finishes 15th or better in stage 3. The winner of the third stage will start third in the final stage. There will also be a pit stop competition between stages two and three, the winner of the pit stop competition will be awarded fourth in the final stage as long as he finishes 15th or better in stage three. The final stage will be 50 laps long and if there is no natural caution, NASCAR will throw an “All-Star” caution. The winner at the end of the 50 laps will be the winner and earn themselves one million dollars.
