With Week 1 upon us, it’s time to set your lineup to get the season started with a W. If you have DaVante Adams, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins or any other elite WR, you already know you are starting them. This article will help you make the tough decisions for who to start on the fringes of WR2/Flex territory.

Welcome to our weekly fantasy football WR start or sit, and as an added bonus, if you haven’t landed on a team name, for instance, someone already took the name Bishop Sycamore in your league, there is a name suggestion with each player as well. Good luck this week!

Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 1 WRs

Start: Adam Thielen at Bengals

Team Name: Hooked on a Thielen

This offseason, the talk with Adam Thielen was touchdown regression, and the emergence of Justin Jefferson for the Minnesota Vikings has moved Thielen down many draft boards after he was the WR6 in fantasy football last season. Yes, that was ahead of Jefferson despite missing a game. Now, long-term fading Thielen may be the best strategy to take. Trading him in dynasty is advisable as well, but this week against a banged-up Cincinnati Bengals secondary, missing their top CB Trae Waynes, makes for a great play, as his TD regression is very unlikely to begin this week.

Start: Robby Anderson vs Jets

Team Name: Cops & Robbys

Both Sam Darnold and Robby Anderson have their Week 1 matchup with the Jets circled on their calendars. Do you believe in revenge narratives? Not only is this the first meeting with the Jets after Darnold and Anderson have been reunited, but the Jets D also gave up 41.4 fppg to opposing WR last season. While Anderson is ranked just on the cusp of WR2, he makes for a great start this week. It’s definitely worth rolling him out there in at least one DFS lineup as well.

Sit: Giants WR vs. Broncos

Team Name: Happy Golladays

The offseason addition of Kenny Golladay to the New York Giants was like piling just one more into a crowded elevator that is over the maximum weight. Kadarius Toney and Kyle Rudolph are also new this season, in addition to the already established Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Evan Engram. Throw in Saquon Barkley catching passes out of the backfield, and there just might not be enough balls to go around. Now, throw in a tougher matchup out of the gate against the Denver Broncos, who only gave up 35 fppg to opposing WRs last year, and you see a situation you should stay away from this week at least.

Sit: Broncos WRs at Giants

Team Name: Froggy went a Courtland

This game has the lowest Vegas total of the week, and crowded depth charts with uncertainty around roles doesn’t help as well. While Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are both immensely talented young WRs, this is a tough spot in Week 1 against the Giants D which gave up 35.1 fppg to opposing WRs last season. There is uncertainty as to if Courtland Sutton will play the whole game and who will draw the coverage of James Bradberry. If you have to start one in a pinch, Jeudy would be the preferred play, as he will likely run more of his routes out of the slot, but it would be better to take a wait-and-see approach.
