The Portland Trail Blazers are facing a tumultuous offseason. With no picks in the 2021 NBA Draft and trade rumors swirling around star Damian Lillard, the Trail Blazers need to tread carefully.
The following is a complete look at the Portland Trail Blazers team needs, as we approach the 2021 NBA Draft and Free Agency.
Portland Trail Blazers Needs Heading Into the Offseason
Trail Blazers Free Agents
Here is a list of the players who are upcoming Portland Trail Blazers free agents that will either need to be re-signed or replaced.
- Norman Powell, SG (Player-Option)
- Kelijin Blevins, G (RFA)
- Derrick Jones, SF
- Carmelo Anthony, SF
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, SF
- T.J. Leaf, PF, (RFA)
- Harry Giles, PF
- Enes Kanter, C
- Zach Collins, C (RFA)
The Blazers need to take this offseason one day at a time. In addition to the Lillard situation, Carmelo Anthony may be out of Portland soon as well. At 37 years old, Melo may not fit what could soon be a rebuilding Blazers team. Norman Powell is another player whose player-option will likely hinge on the future direction of the team. Powell is a capable defender and spot-up shooter. He could command more than the $11.6 million the Blazers owe him, should he decide to become a free agent.
The Portland Trail Blazers seem to be headed toward rebuild sooner rather than later. New head coach Chauncey Billups will have a chance to truly turn this team to fit his image.
