NBA DFS | Pelicans vs Heat “Rapidfire” Contest for 3x Buy-In
This Monkey Knife Fight DFS props contest is far too heavily shaded towards the Pelicans players for my liking. As such, I am naturally inclined to roll with the Heat in both matchups. Jimmy Butler remains the lead dog for Miami when it comes to scoring buckets. While he didn’t lead the Heat in scoring in their season-opener, his 15 shot attempts were just one behind Bam Adebayo for most on the team. As a big, Zion Williamson gets far more quality looks than Butler, but he only attempted nine shots in New Orleans’ opener. Opportunity is the name of the game here.
Meanwhile, Goran Dragic is a prolific passer and has been his entire career. This was on full display in Miami’s opener as he came off the bench to dish out seven assists in 26 minutes. Despite being a starter and seeing three additional minutes, Lonzo Ball only chalked up two dimes. The addition of Eric Bledsoe could reduce Ball’s pure point guard play to some extent. Dragic catching 1.5 assists in this matchup is too good to pass up.
NCAAB DFS | Maryland vs Purdue “More or Less” Contest for 2.5x Buy-In
When it comes to elite conferences in college basketball, the Big Ten is at or near the top. Big Ten games have a knack for being tightly contested, and Maryland vs Purdue on Christmas Day figures to be no exception.
I’m inclined to roll with the Under on 14.5 points for Maryland’s Eric Ayala in this Monkey Knife Fight DFS props contest. Ayala’s average of 14.6 points per game is bolstered significantly by high scoring outputs against inferior nonconference competition. Looking at some of the Terrapins’ tougher opponents to date, Ayala has finished below his season average, which just so happens to be the threshold for this contest.
Meanwhile, Trevion Williams is averaging 9.7 rebounds per game on the season and has been a menace on the glass of late. In three of the Boilermakers’ last four games, Williams has exceeded 8.5 boards, including the nine he snared in Tuesday’s game at Iowa. I’m not about to step in front of this elite rebounder playing in the Christmas Day spotlight.
NFL DFS | Vikings vs Saints “More or Less” Contest for 3.5x Buy-In
The NFL gets in on the Christmas Day fun this year with a key NFC battle between the Vikings and Saints. Minnesota may be in desperation mode when it comes to their postseason hopes, but banking on Kirk Cousins to throw them to a Christmas victory is far from wise. On the season, the Saints defense is allowing the sixth-fewest passing yards per game to opposing QBs at 210.9. That’s well below the threshold for Cousins’ passing yardage in this Monkey Knife Fight DFS props contest, so I’ll opt for the Under.
On the flip side, I’ll happily take the Over on 65.5 rushing yards for Alvin Kamara. The Vikings haven’t been as proficient at stopping opposing RBs as you might believe, surrendering over 125 rushing yards per game. Kamara was limited to 11 carries last week as New Orleans was forced to play from behind against the Kansas City Chiefs. Even so, he still posted 54 yards (4.9 per carry). I expect a much different game script and ample opportunity for the star back to produce on Christmas.

NBA DFS | Mavericks vs Lakers “3-Point Shootout” Contest for 1.8x Buy-In
Did I mention there are literally a ton of ways to win playing Monkey Knife Fight DFS props contests? If you aren’t feeling a more traditional type of contest, how about trying your hand at the 3-Point Shootout? While the play I included above is for 1.8x the buy-in amount, MKF allows YOU, the user, to choose your goal and your potential payout in this contest.
As far as my player selections, LeBron James has continued to make the 3-point shot a bigger part of his game as he gets older. James attempted eight treys in the Lakers’ season-opener, making three of them. Similar production in this Christmas Day showdown along with a couple makes from Dallas sharp-shooters Tim Hardaway Jr. (3-8 on 3’s in the Mavs’ season opener) and Dorian Finney-Smith (1-6) should easily eclipse the 8.5 necessary to win.
Luka Doncic could be another strong option for this NBA DFS contest. It’s unlikely that he shoots 0-6 from deep as he did in Dallas’ season-opener. If a higher goal and larger payout are what you seek, Doncic could be a strong upside play.
NBA DFS | Clippers vs Nuggets “Rapidfire” Contest for 3x Buy-In
We round out the Christmas Day Monkey Knife Fight DFS props contest picks with the late NBA matchup between the Clippers and Nuggets. Again, I’m inclined to side with the players who are catching stats for this contest. Kawhi Leonard and Nikola Jokic are both incredibly talented players. Each is capable of dropping a huge scoring game on any given night. Given the higher percentage looks Jokic draws playing close to the rim, I’ll opt for the Denver big man getting 4.5 points in this matchup. I also doubt Leonard will attempt 26 shots again as he did in L.A.’s season-opener.
The rebounds matchup in this DFS contest is nip and tuck. Michael Porter Jr. will undoubtedly have more minutes on the floor than Serge Ibaka, but isn’t exactly known for his prowess on the defensive end, or on the glass. Despite fewer minutes and the presence of more quality rebounders on the Clippers, I’ll take a shot with Ibaka catching 0.5 boards here. Efficiency will be key, but Ibaka has proven to be just that as a rebounder throughout his NBA career.
