3 Players Currently Overvalued in Fantasy Drafts

The top of the draft is easy, where you get to look at all the best players in the league. With names like Saquon Barkley, Alvin Kamara, DeAndre Hopkins and all the other superstars in today’s NFL, it’s like a kid in the candy store. But what about when those players are off the board and you’re left with players that you really have to think about?

Training camp hype has inflated many players’ average draft positions (ADP), and these are five players that are simply too high right now. All ADPs are based on FantasyPros’ PPR ADP rankings.

    RB Damien Williams, KC

    ADP: RB13 (27th Overall)

I love Andy Reid, and as a football fan, that man deserves to be in Hall of Fame discussions when he finally puts up the headset. However, Reid is a quarterback guy. With Patrick Mahomes as a solidified machine gun of a quarterback, we can assume that leaning on the run game won’t be his main concern. Reid also came out today and said that the Chiefs will be using a running back by committee approach, with all four backs having skills that can be utilized. Damien Williams’ ADP will surely drop, but he is still overvalued right now.

    QB Russell Wilson, SEA

    ADP: QB8 (86th Overall)

Russell Wilson’s ability to throw under pressure, evade rushers and make throws consistently is why he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league. But playing on a team that averaged 32.8 rushing attempts (second-most) per game in 2018 and losing his best receiver in Doug Baldwin makes it tough to live up to his current ADP. If offensive philosophy isn’t bad enough, his supporting cast is average at best: Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf, David Moore, Nick Vannett, Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. He’s an alright fantasy option, but his name value is causing him to be selected too high.

    RB Darrell Henderson, LAR

    ADP: RB36 (84th Overall)

Running backs in fantasy are mainly controlled by one stat — touches. They must get the ball as much as possible to make plays, which will be Henderson’s downfall. Todd Gurley is the Ram’s starter, no bad play during the Super Bowl is going to change that. Even if you ignore Gurley, which is a difficult thing to do, recent reports have said that Malcolm Brown will end up taking the back-up snaps over Henderson. If you’re sitting at the 84th pick and Henderson is still there, you should look for a player who is in a better position to get the ball.
