    Mid-Major Notes

    • Week 12 began with a shocker in the mid-majors, as Buffalo was upset when they traveled to Northern Illinois. The Bulls lost just their second game of the season on a buzzer-beating lay-up from the Huskies.
    • Vermont dropped a game to UMBC at home, but they were without their best player Anthony Lamb, who is obviously very important to the Catamounts. However, in their next game, they put on a clinic without Lamb, beating Stony Brook by 21 on the road.
    • Texas State pulled off a shocker and beat Georgia State on the road to split the series for the season and take first place in the Sun Belt, but to end the week they fell to Georgia Southern.
    • Belmont went into Murray State with a game plan to shut down Ja Morant, and they executed to defeat the Racers and get back into the hunt in the Ohio Valley. They also beat Austin Peay on the road to cap off a fantastic week.
    • North Texas lost at home to UAB to open up a four-way tie for first place in the C-USA.
    • UCSB got absolutely throttled when they traveled to CS Fullerton, losing by 21.
    • Bucknell dropped a game on the road in the Patriot League, losing to American and opening up a tie for first place with Army and Lehigh.
    • Fresno State was starting to look like an at-large NCAA Tournament team, but after losing to Colorado State on Saturday, those hopes for the Bulldogs are slim.
    • Old Dominon dropped out of the log jam in first place of the Conference-USA by losing to UTSA on a record-breaking comeback from the Roadrunners.
    • Furman suffered a hurtful loss at home, falling to Samford.
    • Marshall, who upset Wichita State in the NCAA Tournament, was absolutely embarrassed on Saturday, losing by 50 points to Southern Miss in a shocking game in the C-USA.
    • Montana held down their home floor and beat Weber State to create a three-way tie in the Big Sky for first.
    • San Fran lost to San Diego, which may take them out of the conversation for an at-large bid to the big dance.
    • Penn has beat two power conference teams in their last two games, beating Temple last week and St. Joes this week, but they still remain out of the mid-major rankings by one spot because they lost to Princeton twice.
    • Lipscomb puts a strangle hold on the Atlantic-Sun with a dominant 79-59 victory over Liberty, who was the only other team in the conference that was undefeated along with the Bison.
