The Houston Rockets have traded Carmelo Anthony and cash to the Chicago Bulls.
Anthony won't play a game for the Bulls, league source tells ESPN. He will be released and become a free agent if he clears waivers. https://t.co/Oo2IA0nsJP

While the trade itself has been anticipated for quite some time, the trade makes sense for Chicago. At 11-36, it is clear the team is not going to go anywhere and they will being releasing Melo immediately. However, adding cash considerations will give Chicago even more salary cap for next season, as they look to draw a potential superstar to their team.
The Rockets, on the other hand, save about $2.6 million by trading away the aging former superstar, while also freeing up a roster spot. These are much larger benefits for the Rockets, as they rid themselves of the circus that seems to follow Carmelo Anthony wherever he goes.
