Buy Low on Hunter Henry | Fantasy Football Trade Value Week 9
After a Rough Start to the Year for New England, Henry Has Been Very Involved as the Season Has Gone On
Right now, Hunter Henry is sitting at TE16 in half-point PPR leagues. Since he has not been in that top-12 range that you would like to see as an owner, many would see his raw ranking as disappointing. However, (outside of Week 8, when he got injured), Henry has scored 8.7 or more points since Week 4, when New England picked up its first win over the Buffalo Bills. With New England continuing to look like a Super Bowl contender, it is obvious that getting Henry involved in the offensive game plan is a reason why they look great.
That idea that Henry being on the field has an effect on making New England a Super Bowl contender is evident by his snap share. Henry has been on the field for 72.6% of New England’s offensive snaps this season. Only AJ Brown has been higher among pass catchers with a 74.1% share.
What is interesting to look at regarding the snap share is that when Brown returned from his injury, Henry has seemingly gotten better for fantasy football. While neither of the two is dominating at their position, they create an interesting inside-outside dynamic as Brown plays such a big threat outside of the numbers, while Henry plays such a big threat inside of the numbers.
Hunter Henry Faces a Favorable Strength of Schedule
When looking to make a trade in fantasy football, you must consider what the player’s strength of schedule is that you are trading for. If you are looking to trade for a wide receiver, you probably do not want a player who will match up against Derek Stingley and Christian Gonzalez in Weeks 16 and 17. The good news is that for the New England Patriots’ tight ends and, primarily, Henry, New England has a fairly easy strength of schedule at the position for the rest of the season. Looking ahead, New England has matchups against Detroit, Buffalo, New York Jets, Kansas City and Denver. All of those teams are giving up 11 points or more to opposing tight ends on a per-game basis, meaning that tight ends playing against them have to be considered startable in your fantasy starting lineup.
The thing that I like most about this upcoming schedule for Henry is his end-of-the-year schedule. The Patriots end the fantasy season with Kansas City, New York Jets and the Denver Broncos. Obviously, that end-of-the-year schedule bodes very well for fantasy playoffs as you are trying to make your final push for a championship. While the Chiefs and Broncos do sport solid defenses, a way to attack them is through the middle of the field, as good corners will funnel everything towards the middle of the field. In turn, those three games will be tougher matchups for New England’s run game, with all of the inconsistent play at the position this season.
What is the Hunter Henry Fantasy Trade Value?
If you are in need of a tight end, now might be the only time that you can make a conceivable trade for Henry given his injury. The high snap share, as well as the favorable strength of schedule, points in the right direction for the Patriots tight end.
According to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value Tool, Hunter Henry has a value of 5.1. That puts him in a tier with players like Quentin Johnston (5.4), Juwan Johnson (5.2), CJ Stroud (4.9) and Kirk Cousins (4.2). Check out his updated trade value on the FlurrySports Playbook!
In looking to make a fantasy football trade for Henry, a possible trade could revolve around moving a piece like Stroud (Trade Value of 4.9), if you can afford to give up a quarterback. This could work if the Hunter Henry fantasy owner needs a QB. If they were a Lamar Jackson owner and have not found an answer yet, moving a player like Stroud in a one-for-one makes a lot of sense, as both teams would get better. You may also be more incentivized to trade a player like Garrett Wilson (trade value of 31.5) for Henry and Zach Charbonnet (26.4) or Stefon Diggs (28.1).
It is likely that the Hunter Henry owner in your league is not going to be set on keeping him, given the injury and if you offer a player that can be started. So a low-ceiling player like Chris Godwin (8.8) could be enough to entice the owner to feel like they are winning the trade, when in reality you are taking a calculated gamble that can pay off big time come the fantasy playoffs.
Making a move for a player like this in fantasy football is a big move, so you need to refer to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value tool to best understand what his and what other players’ values are. Play around with the tool and make sure that you are not giving up too much for Henry, as right now is the best time to buy him in fantasy football.
