Quick answer: Start Jeremiyah Love as an RB2/flex in Week 8. He’s back from a two-game ankle absence, and he draws one of the best running back matchups of the week. The FlurrySports Playbook ranks him RB25 in half-PPR and RB24 in PPR, 9 spots higher than the FantasyPros consensus in half-PPR. Dallas allows the 7th-most fantasy points to running backs, and this game has a 54.5-point total, one of the highest on the Week 8 slate. The concerns are a crowded backfield and a rookie season that hasn’t been efficient so far.

Jeremiyah Love Injury Update

Love missed Weeks 6 and 7 with an ankle injury that had bothered him since early October. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, practiced fully Friday, and carries no injury designation for Sunday. Head coach Mike LaFleur confirmed he’ll play and is ready for close to a normal workload.

Watch the backfield split. While Love was out, Tyler Allgeier (who’s dealing with a toe injury) and Bam Knight split the work almost evenly. Arizona was already managing Love’s ankle before he sat. In the Giants game, he played through it and his carries were split close to 50-50.

Jeremiyah Love Fantasy Football Outlook

Arizona took Love 3rd overall out of Notre Dame, where he won the 2025 Doak Walker Award. His rookie season has been about volume more than efficiency.

The FlurrySports Playbook’s Opportunity Index shows the role is real:

  • 16.2 looks per game, 24th among all running backs
  • 2.8 red-zone looks per game, 20th
  • 31.5% of Arizona’s opening-drive touches, from the Playbook’s Paydirt tool

The efficiency hasn’t been there yet. In the Playbook’s Advanced Rushing Data tool, Love is averaging:

  • 3.7 yards per carry and -0.08 EPA per carry
  • 23.9% of carries stuffed at or behind the line
  • 21 rushing yards below expected for the season
  • Zero broken tackles and just two runs of 10+ yards

At least some of that is the ankle. Arizona’s line hasn’t helped either.

Track his snaps every week in the Playbook’s Snap Share tool. His season average is 48.2%, with a high of 64% in Week 3.

The Matchup: Cowboys Run Defense Is a Smash Spot

Arizona (2-5) visits Dallas (3-4) at AT&T Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. Dallas is a 7-point favorite, and the game total is 54.5. With the retractable roof, weather won’t be a factor.

The Playbook’s Fantasy Points Against tool shows how much room there is to run:

  • 24.6 PPR points per game allowed to RBs, 7th most in the NFL
  • 106.6 rushing yards per game allowed to RBs on 24.4 carries, about 4.4 yards per carry
  • 1.0 rushing touchdown per game allowed to the position
  • RBs scored 39.1 PPR points against Dallas in Week 5 and 33.3 in Week 7

It’s not just the run defense. Dallas allows a 52.9% third-down conversion rate, the worst in the NFL, plus the 6th-most red-zone trips per game, and opponents score touchdowns on 71.4% of those trips.

Arizona’s side of the ball adds volume. The Cardinals run 67.7 plays per game, 2nd in the NFL, and reach the red zone 4.0 times per game (6th). The problem is finishing: Arizona converts just 42.9% of red-zone trips into touchdowns, the worst rate in the league. Against this Dallas defense, that number has a good chance to bounce back.

The Risks: What Could Go Wrong?

Game script. Arizona is a 7-point underdog and already throws on 62.4% of its plays. If Dallas pulls ahead, the Cardinals could abandon the run.

A three-man backfield. Allgeier and Knight both handled real work while Love was out. Arizona managed Love’s ankle even before he sat, and he’s never topped 64% of the snaps in a game.

Efficiency. Love’s 3.7 yards per carry and negative rushing yards over expected are real red flags. Even a great matchup won’t help much if he can’t make defenders miss.

A small receiving role. Love has a 7.2% target share and has averaged just 2.6 yards per target. He doesn’t add much in PPR.

Jeremiyah Love Fantasy Picks: Our Best Pick

Here are the three Jeremiyah Love picks available this week, with the side the FlurrySports Playbook data supports:

PickLineOur SideConfidence
Receptions2.5LowerHighest
Receiving Yards10.5LowerLean
Rushing Yards39.5HigherLean

Our Pick: Jeremiyah Love Lower 2.5 Receptions

This is the pick the data backs most clearly. Love needs 3 catches to go higher, and the trend is going the other way:

  • He’s caught 3 or more passes in just 2 of 5 games this season.
  • In his last two games before the injury, he drew 1 target each week, with target shares of 2.9% and 2.2%.
  • He has just 14 targets in five games, a 7.2% target share.
  • Dallas allows 4 catches per game to running backs, but those are split across a three-man Arizona backfield in his first game back from an ankle injury.

The one risk to this pick is game script. If Arizona falls well behind, more check-downs could go to the running backs. Even so, Love hasn’t been the back getting those targets lately.

Why the others are leans? His receiving yards (10.5) is a lower lean: he’s averaging 7.2 receiving yards per game and has cleared 10.5 in just 2 of 5 games. His rushing yards (39.5) is a higher lean: he’s averaging 49 rushing yards per game and cleared 39.5 in 3 of 5, and Dallas allows 106.6 rushing yards per game to backs. His efficiency issues and the backfield split keep it from being a stronger pick.

Rest-of-Season Outlook: Buy-Low Window

Jeremiyah Love’s fantasy trade value just dipped. In the Playbook’s Trade Value Chart, he fell 3.1 points this week to 28.8, making him the RB25 and No. 53 overall. If his manager is frustrated after the injury and slow start, this is the time to make an offer. Test a deal in our Trade Calculator.

The schedule is uneven, so timing matters. Here’s Arizona’s remaining slate from the Playbook’s Strength of Schedule tool:

WeekOpponentRB Pts Allowed Rank
8at DAL7th
9at SEA20th
10vs. LA22nd
11at KC25th
12vs. WAS27th
13vs. PHI17th
14BYE–
15vs. NYJ15th
16at NO1st
17vs. LV5th

(Rank 1 = the defense that allows the most points to RBs.)

Weeks 9 through 12 are tough. The payoff comes in the fantasy playoffs: New Orleans allows the most points to running backs of any defense, and Las Vegas ranks 5th. If you can stash Love through the middle of the season, he lines up well for Weeks 16 and 17.

Final Verdict: Should I Start or Sit Jeremiyah Love in Week 8?
