Given the four teams on bye in Week 6 (CIN, DET, MIA, MIN), no position is affected as much as wide receiver. We have several top-tier WRs watching the action from home, with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Justin Jefferson all on bye. These were players you could lock into your lineup without much thought. Now, you have to figure out the best options to round out your lineup, creating some interesting Week 6 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em decisions for you.
Look, I am not here to say that Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Puka Nacua belong in your lineup. I hope you already know that. Instead, I will go over players you may actually have a question about. These are players you may debate on starting in your WR2/3 slot, or possibly your Flex position, depending on the weekly matchup. Below, I have two players I like and two more that I am nervous about.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcome!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 6 WRs
Start: Xavier Worthy Fantasy Outlook vs Chargers
The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off their bye week with a depleted receiving corps. This increased opportunity is the perfect situation for Xavier Worthy to be a “start” for our Week 6 Fantasy Football Start ‘em, Sit ‘em. Tyquan Thornton is out for the long term, while Rashee Rice will miss the game with a hamstring injury.
We remember how the Chiefs wanted to feature Worthy last season when Rice was out, but he immediately got hurt. We can expect them to bust out some of those concepts for this week against the Chargers. Obviously, the Chargers have really struggled this season. Defensively, they rank in the middle against the pass, so the matchup doesn’t scare you.
Xavier Worthy leads the Chiefs’ WRs with 5.5 looks per game this season. Rice and Thornton combined for 8.1 looks per game. It would not be surprising to see Worthy push towards 10 this week, which will return a very solid fantasy performance in prime time.
Start: Mike Evans Fantasy Outlook vs Commanders
It took yet another injury to the San Francisco 49ers’ receiving corps, but Mike Evans finally came alive last week. Evans finished the game with seven receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown. It was his first top-20 finish since Week 1. Now, without Deebo Samuel in the lineup, Evans and the 49ers will face a bad Washington Commanders defense.
The Commanders have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to WRs. They also have a 4.5% sack rate, so Brock Purdy should have plenty of time to throw the ball downfield to Mike Evans. This really is as simple as it gets. Trust what Mike Evans showcased last week, and don’t overthink the combination of increased opportunity and great matchup.
Sit: Jaylen Waddle Fantasy Outlook vs Seahawks
I know you were probably hyped to draft Jaylen Waddle for your fantasy team, but this looks to be another season where he underwhelms. He averages just 6.6 looks per game, which he has turned into a total of 18 receptions for 204 yards and a touchdown. The switch to Sean Payton as the playcaller didn’t help last week, and now he faces a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
Seattle allows the fourth-fewest fantasy points to WRs this season (25.1), and they are doing a great job at not giving up the big play. So, Waddle likely cannot rely on one big play to save his fantasy day. He will need volume, which he has not seen to this point. The Seahawks’ 5.5 yards per pass attempt allowed is the fewest in the NFL. If you have a decent option, just sit him on Thursday night.
Sit: Romeo Doubs Fantasy Outlook vs Jets
AJ Brown has been designated to return, and he has returned to practice. It is unclear if he will return for the matchup against the New York Jets. Either way, you should sit Romeo Doubs.
The opportunities Doubs has received this season have not led to any sort of consistency. He has just one game with more than four targets. Unsurprisingly, that was a good game. We unfortunately cannot predict him to get any more than four targets, and that is not enough to make him a valuable start against the Jets.
The Jets defense has played well this season. They are tied for 10th against fantasy WRs, allowing just 29.3 fantasy points per game to the opposing team’s WR group. The Jets are also second in the NFL in yards per play allowed, at just 4.6. If a receiver faces a defense that makes opponents inefficient, and he also isn’t seeing many opportunities, there is no reason to blindly start him.
