As we enter Week 6 of the NFL season, putting together your best lineup in fantasy football can be easier said than done. Given injuries, byes and your overall record, you could be sitting in a position where you want to make a move before the season gets away from you. While it can be tough to find the right trade, either trading away someone who is coming off of a big week or trading for someone who just had a poor week are strategies that are often employed by fantasy managers.

Garrett Wilson fantasy football owners have enjoyed his start to the season. However, now could be the best time to sell high on the New York Jets’ WR1.

On the FlurrySports Playbook, we have everything your league doesn’t want you to have. Our fantasy rankings, the NFL Survivor tool, a weather app and hundreds of NFL team stats are all free. However, we also have our fantasy football trade value chart, waiver rankings, exclusive stats and more for those who want more information. Simply, we wanted a one-stop shop to help you win on your NFL and college football picks this season!

Wilson Continues to Be Involved in the Jets Offense Given Injuries to Teammates

With a healthy offensive line and Geno Smith at quarterback, Garrett Wilson is putting together one of his better seasons in recent memory. He currently ranks as WR7 in Half PPR formats, ahead of players like Ja’Marr Chase, Puka Nacua and Justin Jefferson. What is as impressive for Wilson is that he has played 89.6% of the Jets offensive snaps through Week 5. While seeing Wilson succeed in fantasy football this season has been a bright sight for many, it appears the performance, in part, is due to increased opportunities due to injuries in the receiving corps.

Omar Cooper Jr. suffered an ankle injury early in the season and was placed on IR. Adonai Mitchell has missed the past couple of games as well. Without Mitchell and Cooper, Wilson has not had to compete for the targets as we have seen in years past.

Cooper is eligible to return this coming week, and Mitchell could be back as well. And while it is yet to be seen if they will actually return, their returns will eat into Wilson’s numbers. Breece Hall has also been forced to miss the past two games due to a quad injury. While the Jets could be more careful with bringing Hall back, when he does return, that obviously gives New York a stronger incentive to run the football, taking away from Wilson as well.

New York Jets WRs Face a Brutal Strength of Schedule

When looking at trades at this point in the season, you need to consider the player’s fantasy football strength of schedule for the rest of the season. For example, you probably do not want to trade for a player who is matched up against Derek Stingley and Christian Gonzalez in the fantasy playoffs. Well, for Wilson (and the Jets receiving corps as a whole), the schedule gets tougher and tougher as the season progresses. During the aforementioned fantasy football playoffs (Weeks 15-17), the Jets match up against Arizona, which is a great matchup, before ending with New England and Minnesota, two of the better defenses in the NFL. That is not to mention that in Week 14, a major week in fantasy football that often decides those last few playoff spots, the Jets matchup against the Denver Broncos, another defense that, when at the top of its game, is among the best in the NFL.

In total, over the last 12 weeks of the season, the Jets face New England 2x, Miami 2x, Kansas City, Denver and Minnesota. Through five weeks of the NFL season, those teams are giving up 25.4 points or less to opposing teams’ wide receivers. As a whole, over the last 12 weeks of the NFL season, the Jets’ upcoming opponents are giving up just an average of 24.6 fantasy points per game. That number ranks as the fourth-lowest number the rest of the way.

What is the Garrett Wilson Fantasy Trade Value?

As I stated before, Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell and Breece Hall will be back sooner rather than later. When those three do return, it is inevitable that Wilson’s usage will drop. When Wilson’s usage drops, so will his fantasy football numbers. With that being said, there is no better time to trade the Ohio State alum than now.

According to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value Tool from last week, Garrett Wilson had a value of 31.3. That puts him in a tier with players like Cam Skattebo (32.6), Tee Higgins (32.1), Aaron Jones (32), Omarion Hampton (30.4), Kyle Monangai (30.1) and Matthew Golden (30.1). Check out his updated trade value on the FlurrySports Playbook!

In looking to make a fantasy football trade for Wilson, a possible trade could revolve around moving Wilson and a piece like Emmanuel Wilson (Trade Value of 12.7) for an upgrade at receiver in the ballpark of Justin Jefferson, Chris Olave or a running back like D’Andre Swift. The Minnesota Vikings have the fourth-easiest schedule the rest of the way for the receiver position, ending the season in the fantasy playoffs against Detroit, Washington and the Jets. For the Saints, they do not have as easy a schedule for receivers (21st), but end the season against Arizona and Atlanta. For Chicago, they have the 12th-easiest schedule for running backs moving forward, ending their season against Buffalo, Green Bay and Detroit.

If you’re a Garrett Wilson fantasy owner who is looking to turn him into two start-worthy players, something like Wilson for Jordan Addison (16.7 Trade Value) and JK Dobbins (17.4 Trade Value) makes sense. Once again, Minnesota has the fourth-easiest schedule for receivers the rest of the way. As for Denver, they have the second-easiest schedule for running backs, including ending their season against Las Vegas, Buffalo and New England.

Moving a player like Garrett Wilson in fantasy football is a big move, so you need to refer to the FlurrySports Fantasy Football Trade Value tool to best understand what his and what other players values are. Play around with the tool and make sure that you are getting the right return for Wilson, as right now is the best time to sell him in fantasy football.
