Week 5 of the NFL season is already here and bye weeks are starting up. Both Bryce Young and Patrick Mahomes are on bye this week, so there definitely will be a need for fantasy football QB streamers this week. We have seen several solid performances by low-owned quarterbacks this past week, so finding a QB streamer should not be that difficult. When looking at streaming players, I am primarily looking at specific matchups, and given the slate this week, there are many games that can be exploited.
We have highlighted all of the top fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 5, but that’s not necessarily the list of the best players to add and start this weekend. Now that we have another week of information in the fantasy football sphere, there are several players that we can look at on the waiver wire to help our fantasy teams. Below we’ll cover three options for Week 5 fantasy football quarterback streamers.

Aaron Rodgers, Steelers vs IND (6.5% owned)
Last week against the Cleveland Browns was the closest that we have seen Aaron Rodgers play like his former MVP self in Pittsburgh. At 42 years old, Rodgers may not have the mobility that he once did, but he still has one of the most accurate arms in the entire NFL. Currently sitting at QB17 on the season, Rodgers appears to be playing his best football in recent memory. Given the upcoming matchup, as well as his litany of weapons, I am expecting that trend to continue this week.
The Steelers are looking to get back on track as the Indianapolis Colts come to town this week. This is a great matchup for the Steelers’ passing attack, as the Colts have struggled against opposing quarterbacks this season. This year, the Colts are giving up an average of 20.5 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. That number ranks as the sixth-worst in the NFL. We have seen Rodgers develop a connection with Roman Wilson, Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth. Along with DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman and Jaylen Warren, Rodgers has the pieces around him to be your choice among these Week 5 fantasy football QB streamers.
Jacoby Brissett, Cardinals vs DET (9.9%)
Through four weeks of the NFL season, Jacoby Brissett ranks as QB19, which is ahead of players like Bo Nix, Justin Herbert and Drake Maye (for a full list of rankings, as well as other important stats and trends, check out the FlurrySports Playbook). More than that, though, Brissett ranks eighth in the NFL in passing attempts this season. Given the matchup against the dynamic Lions offense this week, the Cardinals will be playing from behind, meaning that Brissett and the offense will once again be in a lot of passing situations.
The first thing to love about Brissett this week is that matchup with the Detroit Lions. With the injuries among the secondary, including that of Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch (who is still yet to practice, but could this week), the Lions have been getting gashed through the air. This year, Detroit is giving up an average of 27.9 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. That spells well for Brissett and the Cardinals offense, after seeing Bryce Young and Tet McMillan put up 329 yards through the air and 32 points on Detroit last week.
Jalon Daniels, Buccaneers vs DAL (1.6%)
In his first start as an NFL quarterback, Jalon Daniels put together a fairly mild performance against a Green Bay defense that has been playing better than people have been talking about. I am not suggesting that you pick up Daniels and start him if you are in a normal 10- or 12-team league, but if you are in a deep 18- or 20-team league or a two-quarterback league, you have to look at Daniels this week.
First of all, Daniels and the Buccaneers take on the Dallas Cowboys this week. Much like the Lions, the Cowboys have been horrendous against the opposing quarterback position in fantasy football this season. This season, the Cowboys are giving up 23.4 fantasy points per game to the position. With weapons like Emeka Egbuka, Cade Otton, Kenny Gainwell, Chris Godwin and Ted Hurst, Tampa will be able to attack Dallas from a number of directions through the air. On top of that, Daniels is always going to be a threat to use his legs to pick up yards, and we know that running quarterbacks provide a ton of value in fantasy football.
