Look, I get that it’s Week 2 and our favorite thing to do is immediately overreact to everything. The first few weeks are the most valuable the waiver wire will ever be, so it’s important to make some solid pickups. While everyone will certainly overreact to players like Jalen Coker and Mike Gesicki, here are three Week 2 fantasy football WR streamers that will provide long-term value for you this season.

Devaughn Vele, New Orleans Saints (12.9%)
To be honest, nobody has really paid attention to the New Orleans Saints in quite some time and for good reason. This year, things will change so be at the forefront of it. The Saints have plenty of firepower offensively and took the Detroit Lions to the brink on the road, even with quarterback Tyler Shough looking trashier than the cast of Jersey Shore.
Devaughn Vele quietly put up 69 yards and a touchdown on seven catches, and he led all NFL WRs with 82 snaps, per the FlurrySports Playbook. He had nine targets, and that number likely won’t go down with rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson out for a few months. The Saints will likely be playing from behind plenty this season, so they’ll need to pass too. He isn’t the sexiest pick, but Vele quietly has one of the highest floors of the Week 2 fantasy football WR streamers.
Keenan Allen, Indianapolis Colts (29% owned)
Touchdowns are king in fantasy, so it’s fair to want players who have a way of finding the end zone. The issue when it comes to hunting those type of players on the fantasy football waiver wire after one week is that it’s hard to know who’s reliable and who’s just another flash in the pan. Everyone will be chasing after Coker, and for good reason, but I think Keenan Allen will be just as good at the end of the year and nobody is paying attention to him.
In his first week with the Indianapolis Colts after being signed under a month ago, Allen put up a modest stat line, hauling in all six targets for 32 yards. He tied for a team-high six targets. If you’re in PPR leagues, that is already good enough for a WR3/FLEX placement and this was probably the hardest week for him to produce. He clearly already has the trust in quarterback Daniel Jones and his role could get even bigger if Alec Pierce misses any time due to the injury he picked up in Week 1. With only room to grow, pick up Keenan Allen before he’s rostered for the rest of the season.
Malik Washington, Miami Dolphins (7.7%)
No receiver having three catches in Week 1 will catch anyone’s eye, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t. The Miami Dolphins may not win a single game all year, but that only means they’ll have to pass for most of their games this entire season. There will be plenty of volume for the receivers, and although Malik Washington only had three catches, he drew eight targets and ranked fifth in WR air yards (135).
Even on just three catches, Washington still racked up 53 receiving yards. It’s hard to imagine a more inefficient game stat-wise, so it means something that Washington had 8.3 PPR points in what will likely be one of his worst weeks this season. He’ll never go off or serve as your WR1, but you can do a lot worse than Washington against a San Francisco 49ers defense next week that will certainly be feeling some jet lag.
