1. Seminole Still Tops the List

Most critics consider Seminole one of the best courses in the USA and it’s easily one of the most famous golf courses in Florida.

This 18-hole Donald Ross designed course features cleverly-angled narrowing greens and flash-faced sand traps.

Both nines set out from the clubhouse, and traverse the 40-foot dune ridge on the western edge of the property. Seminole is a par-72 course with plenty of challenges for experienced golfers.

You’ll have to cozy up to a member or sign up yourself if you want to enjoy a round at this elite Juno Beach private golf club though.

2. TPC Sawgrass

As far as the best public golf courses in Florida go, you won’t find better than this Pete Dye design. Since 1980, Sawgrass’s consistently ranked among the world’s best courses.

You’ll find two championship courses here, world-class facilities, and meticulous greens. Sawgrass forms the backdrop to the PGA Tour headquarters and is the home of The Players Championship.

The course offers 36 supremely challenging holes and deserves a place on any avid golfer’s to-do list. You’ll find TPC Sawgrass about 35 miles southeast of Jacksonville, FL.

3. Streamsong Has Three of the Best Golf Courses in Florida

Streamsong’s Red, Black, and Blue courses have all earned a reputation as Florida’s finest courses. Together, these links-courses present 54 unique challenges with a 55th designed for the express purpose of settling bets.

Abundant water features, wide fairways, and huge sand dunes, and a 72-par target are the main characteristics of these courses.

Streamsong is a private course but you can get your foot on the green by booking accommodation at the onsite resort. Streamsong’s close to major Florida destinations like Tampa, Lakeland, and Orlando.

4. Kelly Plantation Golf Course

Kelly Plantation ranks among America’s finest public golf courses and has much to offer both novice and seasoned players.

The course boasts stunning views over Destin’s Choctawhatchee Bay, 18-holes of sweeping Fairways, and strategically-located hazards. It’s a 72-par course littered with swampy bayous and towering trees that add both beauty and technicality to each hole.

Fred Couples designed this exceptional course in 1988, and today it offers a restaurant and clubhouse onsite as well as a few nice touches like cold towels.

5. Ocala Golf Club

Ocala is one of the epicenters of golfing in Florida. It’s within easy reach of 63 Florida golf courses, offers great golf communities, and is also home to the highly-rated Ocala Golf Club.

This public golf course offers a host of amenities including a pro-shop, restaurant, and practice greens. On course, you’re in for a par-72 challenge with gently sloping tree-lined fairways.

6. Trump National Doral

The city of Doral is another epicenter of golf in Florida, but Trump National tops the list of places to play if you’re looking for a course designed to test the pros.

It’s a 72-par, 7,608-yard course awash with long fairways, tricky deep bunkers, strategically-placed water hazards, and thick Bermuda grass rough.

You’ll feel like a true champion when you have a good day on this top-100-rated course.

7. Southern Hills Plantation Club

Designed by Pete Dye, Southern Hills has a classic southern resort-style clubhouse as well as a world-class spa and athletic club on site.

Southern Hills is in the wilderness area south of Lakeland. The course makes the most of its natural assets to create unique golfing experiences with lovely views and elevations of almost 250 feet.

It’s a private club but you can play there if you know someone who’s a member, or if you sign up for a summer membership or non-residential membership.

8. World Woods Golf Club

World Woods Golf Club has two of the best courses in Florida, created by the award-winning designer Tom Fazio. Golf Digest consistently lists the Pine Barrens course among the best in the world.

Dramatic changes in elevation, untamed waste bunkering, gorgeous pine forests, and challenging mental tests are the main features of Pine Barrens.

The Rolling Oaks Course offers an entirely different challenge, with its landscapes featuring azalea bushes and giant oak trees. The traditional course design is a contrast of white bunkers against bright green undulating fairways.

You’ll need a strategic approach to succeed at this Brooksville venue.

9. Saddlebrook Resort

Infinitely playable and picturesque, Saddlebrook Golf Club features two 18-hole courses as well as a 16-hole training center.

The Arnold Palmer-designed courses are par-71 and par-72 challenges featuring pristine greens and rolling fairways. The courses sweep through cypress, palm, and pine wilderness areas.

Abundant water features and breezy days add to the excitement when you take on one of these courses.

There’s always something on the go at Saddlebrook with regular events, training sessions, and golf clinics to choose from. There’s a resident pro if you want to brush up on your skills during a visit to this premier golf club in Tampa.
