The New Orleans Saints were close to making the playoffs. If the San Francisco 49ers did not come back against the Los Angeles Rams, the Saints would have been in. The Saints have replaced Sean Payton, who decided to retire after the season. Dennis Allen takes over the reins of the Saints and there are some major problems that he needs to fix.

Here are three things the New Orleans Saints must address during the 2022 NFL Offseason if they want to get back to the playoffs.

3 Things the New Orleans Saints Must Address in the 2022 NFL Offseason

1. Get Under the Cap

The New Orleans Saints are in major cap jail. The Saints are more than $75 million over the cap. There are many possibilities to get under the cap, but many tough decisions will be made. Mickey Loomis will have to work some magic to even get close to the cap before next season.

2. Get Some help on the Offense

The New Orleans Saints were 28th in the NFL in total offense. They were also 32nd in passing offense as well. Once Jameis Winston went down, the passing game suffered. Micheal Thomas never played a game this season, and that hurt them as well. No receiver had more than 700 yards of receiving. They need to do what they can to get a WR and their only chance could be in the draft.

Then, you add on the fact that Alvin Kamara is an unknown factor right now. Will he be charged with assault? Will he get off scot-free? How many games will he be suspended? The court and NFL will decide this in the coming months.

3. Try Their Best to Keep the Defense Together

The Saints’ defense kept this team alive for the playoffs through the season. They had the fourth-best defense in terms of points allowed. As mentioned before, the Saints are not in a good position with the cap. They might have to get rid of some key defensive players to make room. We will all have to wait and see what the finished product will be when all is said and done, though.
