After a wild race that involved many tire problems and other issues with the Next-Gen car, NASCAR hopes to put that behind them when they travel to a fan favorite track. Talladega Superspeedway will host the fifth race of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The YellaWood 500 will be this Sunday on NBC at 2 PM ET. This has become a talking point with some of the drivers that don’t want to go up against the NFL schedule. Another talking point with the drivers, the cars and tires. Many tire issues and car safety problems arose in the last two weeks as many cars have blown tires and the drivers have taken big hits. Cody Ware needed to be taken away in an ambulance following his wreck last Sunday in Texas. Not what NASCAR wants to have ever, let alone when they are trying to crown a champion. Hopefully, for NASCAR’s sake, the 2.66-mile speedway will get people back talking in a good way for NASCAR.
The NASCAR Trucks and Xfinity Series will also be joining the Cup series this week at Talladega. Trucks had last week off while the Xfinity Series was won by Noah Gragson for his 4th consecutive win. The two lower series will be on a doubleheader Saturday.
