The NFL Playoffs begin this weekend, which means season-long fantasy football leagues have officially come to an end. Luckily, we saw less injuries to big name players this year, but that doesn’t mean there was a shortage of excitement and drama from week-to-week. Let’s take a look back at this season and hand out our FlurrySports Fantasy Football Awards for 2018.

All stats given will be for PPR scoring and season-long stats are for weeks 1-16, as that is the typical duration for most fantasy football leagues. The race for many awards was tight, so let us know which awards you agree or disagree with in the comments, or share the article with your own picks on Twitter and Facebook!

Let’s get started with all of our fantasy football awards from this season, starting with our Most Valuable Player…

Patrick Mahomes

To the surprise of nobody, this year’s fantasy football MVP is Patrick Mahomes. He will be winning the NFL MVP as well. Mahomes totaled 399.74 fantasy points, which is the most by any quarterback in the past two decades. His 26.6 fantasy points per game was 4.7 more than the second placed quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. Not only did Patrick Mahomes possess the upside of his 39-point performance, he also showed consistency week-to-week. The second-year quarterback had just two games under 20 points, while having six games of 28+. We were pushing really heavily for Mahomes all offseason here at FlurrySports, and I am extremely happy to name him our MVP for this fantasy season.

Honorable Mention: Christian McCaffrey

Deshaun Watson

What?!? No Andrew Luck??! Andrew Luck had a fantastic comeback year after missing all of that time and is worthy of this award as well. However, Deshaun Watson, a running second-year quarterback, came back after tearing his ACL and finished better than Luck. Averaging 20.7 fantasy points per week while adjusting to multiple injuries to his receivers, Watson showed that his rookie year wasn’t a fluke. He finished the season as QB5 and will be one of my top quarterbacks this entire offseason.

Honorable Mention: Andrew Luck

Eric Ebron

Ebron went from not being able to catch in Detroit to being one of Frank Reich’s most talked about players before the season began. We quickly saw why Reich was so excited about the new tight end in town. After finishing as TE12 with four touchdowns just a season ago, Ebron exploded for 13 total touchdowns, earning him a finish of TE4. While he was especially dangerous is the red zone, he proved to be more than just a touchdown threat, catching 62 passes for 690 yards, while being moved around the formations.

Saquon Barkley

Duh. Not only was Saquon Barkley the best rookie this season by far, many could argue that he was the best performing running back this season. Playing in all 15 games of the fantasy season, the rookie averaged 24.1 fantasy points per game, while being the only consistent bright spot on a bad team. His 87 catches were second only to Christian McCaffrey among running backs, and he scored in double-digits every single week, with only four games being under 20 points.

Honorable Mention: Phillip Lindsay

Quarterback: Mitchell Trubisky

Week 4 vs. Tampa Bay

With only 26 pass attempts, Trubisky threw six touchdowns and added 53 yards rushing on his way to a 46.5-point performance. Trubisky became just the 13th quarterback to throw for six touchdowns in a game in the past 25 years.

Running Back: Derrick Henry

Week 14 vs. Jacksonville

This is known as the game that Derrick Henry woke up. Below, you can see his insane 99-yard touchdown run. This was just one of many terrific runs, as Henry rumbled his way to 238 yards and four touchdowns on Thursday Night Football, earning him 48 fantasy points against the stout Jaguar defense.

Wide Receiver: Amari Cooper

Week 14 vs. Philadelphia

There must be something special about Week 14, because Amari Cooper also exploded this week. Cooper proved to be the receiver the Cowboys were missing, as he caught 10 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns against the division rivals, earning him a whopping 50 fantasy points.

Tight End: Zach Ertz

Week 10 vs. Dallas

There were plenty of big tight end performances this season, but the best was put up by Zach Ertz, who caught 14 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys. This tremendous performance equaled 41 fantasy points and was a big reason why Ertz finished as the second-best tight end on the season.
