The Zach Ertz fantasy football performance as a tight end this season has been average. However, what sets him apart this week is his recent track record against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks have been tough when it comes to defending tight ends, boasting a streak of eight games without allowing a tight end to score 14 or more PPR points. On paper, they’ve been particularly harsh this season, granting tight ends the fourth-fewest PPR fantasy points. A closer look reveals that three of those games were against tight end groups ranking in the bottom 10 for fantasy points.

In contrast, Sam LaPorta’s performance against the Seahawks in Week 2 stands out. He managed to secure five receptions for 63 yards on six targets, totaling 11.3 PPR fantasy points. What makes this feat noteworthy is that LaPorta is the only tight end to have seen more than three targets against the Seahawks this season.

Zach Ertz is consistently involved in the Cardinals’ passing game, as he’s seen four or more targets in all but one game this season. However, Ertz’s historical advantage is what truly makes this matchup favor him. Since joining the Arizona Cardinals, he’s faced the Seahawks four times. In each of those contests, the Zach Ertz fantasy output has been 14 or more points in PPR scoring. If you’re a fan of averages, in those four games, he’s averaged 6.75 receptions for 70.5 yards, 0.7 touchdowns, and an impressive 18.3 PPR fantasy points.

In conclusion, while Ertz’s overall season performance may not have set the world on fire, his past success against the Seahawks, combined with his consistent involvement in the Cardinals’ passing game, make him an interesting option this week.
