Football is back. Wow, that is a great thing to read, type and say. On Thursday, we were welcomed into the 100th season of NFL football with one of the most boring games I’ve ever watched… but I actually got to watch a game again, so I can’t complain. With Sunday football being just a day away, it means all of us DFS players are rushing to DraftKings, FanDuel, etc. getting ready to set a lineup for the hardest week to predict. Week 1 is home of the scariest thing in any fantasy football, complete unpredictability. Players are on new teams, players are sitting out Week 1 and some players haven’t had any true game-time snaps since last year. In a week of unpredictability, let me help you out on the bargain beast in DFS lineups, so you are able to spend up on the studs we all have confidence in.

Quarterbacks
Jacoby Brissett, at LAC
DraftKings: $4,400|FanDuel: $6,000
This is going to be your only chance all season to play a starting QB for the same price as Cooper Rush and Nick Mullens. Brissett likely won’t end up being the highest scorer for the week, but averaged 17 points per game when he started for an injured Andrew Luck just two seasons ago, with a much worst team. At this price, you’re getting a steal.
Running Backs
Justin Jackson, vs. IND
DraftKings: $4,000|FanDuel: $5,900
With Melvin Gordon sitting out Week 1 due to contract disputes, there’s an easy assumption that you should either play Jackson or Austin Eckler. Eckler is a lot more expensive and this is a bargain article, so obviously I have to go with the one that is going to be cheaper. Honestly, I see Jackson and Eckler finishing with the same number of fantasy points come the end of their game, so I say go with Jackson for a cheap stud this week.
Jordan Howard, vs. WAS
DraftKings: $4,200|FanDuel: $5,800
The Eagles are coming into Week 1 with Carson Wentz not playing a single preseason snap and Doug Pederson likes to run the rock. Even with a running back by committee, it’s hard to see the Eagles not giving their new trade piece a good amount of carries behind PFF’s top-rated run-blocking offensive line. This game is also expected to get out of hand against a lackluster Washington team, so expect to see a lot of the veteran running the rock, milking the clock, grinding out first downs and keeping Wentz out of danger.
Wide Receivers
Marquise Goodwin, at TB
DraftKings: $4,000|FanDuel: $5,400
Dante Pettis is getting most of the attention in the San Fran receiving corps and Deebo Samuels is probably second in line for the “most attention” award. Goodwin kept his starting job over Samuels this week. If he wants to keep it going forward, he is must ball out to keep his position opposite Pettis. And matching up against Vernon Hargreaves, who can be described as absolutely terrible last season, is a plus matchup for the speedster.
Larry Fitzgerald, vs. DET
DraftKings: $4,900|Fanduel: $5,900
Fitzgerald is old and still has more tackles in his career than drops. Kyler Murray is going to be starting his first-ever NFL game and was probably told two things going into this game against the Lions: Give the ball to David Johnson and throw the ball to Fitzgerald. Those two things will likely end up being Arizona’s offense this game, which will result in a good outcome for the price Fitz has Week 1.
Tight Ends
Delanie Walker, at CLE
DraftKings: $3,500|FanDuel: $5,400
Walker is coming off an injury last season and should be coming into this game fresh as a daisy. While Cleveland is definitely the hype train of this years’ NFL regular season with a bunch of offensive improvements, I see a decline at that linebacker/safety position. With the loss of Jabrill Peppers, I don’t see anyone that can keep up with Walker’s game.
