Green Bay Packers Preview
It took the Packers a full quarter to get warmed up in their Week 4 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Once they did, there was little keeping them from earning a comfortable win. Several Packers fans likely experienced a bit of nostalgia as Aaron Rodgers connected with Randall Cobb for two touchdowns in the game. Cobb, Davante Adams and Aaron Jones all had over 50 yards receiving. Meanwhile, second-year RB A.J. Dillon rumbled for 84 yards against one of the NFL’s best run defenses.
The Packers still do leave a lot to be desired on the defensive side of the ball. Given how poor both the Steelers’ offensive line and quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, have been this season, it was rather concerning to see Green Bay allow a long touchdown pass. On the bright side, rookie corner Eric Stokes came up with an interception. Even so, the Packers are now 23rd in adjusted defensive efficiency through the first four weeks of the season. They’ll need to clean things up ahead of this week’s NFL betting matchup against a talented Bengals offense.
Cincinnati Bengals Preview
It may not have started off pretty, but the Bengals ultimately emerged victorious in their Week 4 Thursday Night Football contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was another electric performance from QB Joe Burrow. He nearly finished with 350 yards passing and added a pair of touchdown strikes to tight end C.J. Uzomah. Unfortunately for the Bengals, Joe Mixon was forced out of last week’s game with an ankle sprain. He is officially labeled as questionable but appears unlikely to be available for Sunday’s NFL betting matchup against the Packers. Samaje Perine and Chris Evans figure to be the two primary beneficiaries of his absence.
After rookie first-round pick Ja’Marr Chase garnered the majority of headlines through the first three weeks, it was veteran wideout Tyler Boyd leading the team with nine catches for 118 yards last Thursday. In addition to a talented offense, the Bengals very quietly rank fifth in adjusted defensive efficiency and eighth in scoring defense after four games. Last Thursday’s win over the Jaguars was not anywhere close to their best performance this season. It will be interesting to see how this vastly improved unit holds up against the reigning NFL MVP on Sunday.
