Nikola Jovic NBA Draft Profile, Stats, Highlights and Projection
Nikola Jovic Position: Forward Height: 6’10” Weight: 227 Age: 19 Team: Mega Basket (Serbia)
Excellent playmaking abilities are what have many believing that Nikola Jovic could become a lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Whether it be running out in transition, operating the pick and roll, or attacking the rim one-on-one, Jovic is capable of finding his shot from anywhere on the floor. He especially excels at creating shot attempts in the open floor thanks to his ability to change pace on a dime. His ball-handling skills are solid and his footwork is also exceptional for a player of his size. Jovic also has sound instincts when playing off the ball. He moves well and is able to time his cuts into the paint precisely.
Weaknesses
Despite all of the offensive upside that Jovic possesses he remains remarkably inefficient at that end of the floor. He is not a great three-point shooter at this stage, and he also struggles to finish consistently at the rim. While his length would ordinarily set up as a massive advantage against smaller guards who may switch onto him in pick and roll, Jovic has not shown any sort of a post game whatsoever. On defense, he is simply average. As he lacks muscle, he will hardly be capable of defending some of the NBA’s more physical bigs.
