During his time with Seattle, he recorded 248 tackles, 48 passes defensed and six interceptions. He defended the 10th-most passes in the NFL and is one of only three players in the NFL with at least 240 tackles and 48 passes defensed over the last four seasons.
Shaquill also has a twin brother in the NFL, Shaquem Griffin. They both played in Seattle together after Shaquem was drafted by the team his brother was with at the time. This is a draft story many NFL fans remember. Shaq’s smile and positive energy is already being felt in Duval County in Jacksonville as excitement builds around the arrival of Griffin.
Griffin’s contract is a three-year, $40 million deal.
Shaq has already taken to twitter to express his excitement, saying he can’t wait for the team to be great inn 2021.
Jaguars Sign Speedy Phillip Dorsett
Phillip Dorsett comes to the Jaguars with a lot of experience. He has been in the NFL for six years now and has played in two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots.
Dorsett, 28, has started 15 games over the course of his six seasons in the NFL. He has 124 receptions for 1,634 yards and 11 touchdowns in 71 games. He had a career-high 528 receiving yards for the Colts in 2016 and scored five touchdowns for the Patriots in 2019.
Carlos Hyde Returns to Duval
Carlos Hyde is no stranger to Jacksonville. The 31-year-old running back played eight games for the Jaguars in 2018. During his first stint with the organization, Hyde rushed for 189 yards on 58 carries. This week, he agreed to return to Jacksonville.
Hyde spent the 2019 season in Houston, rushing for 1,070 yards and six touchdowns for the Texans. He started 14-of-16 games played. He then spent the 2020 season in Seattle, rushing for 356 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games. Over the course of his seven-year career, Hyde has rushed for 4,726 yards and 36 touchdowns
Hyde is also no stranger to head coach Urban Meyer. He played for Meyer from 2012-13 at Ohio State. He was a second-team All-America selection in 2013.
Head coach Urban Meyer, as well as the coaching staff, are excited about these new additions and the 2021 Jaguars free agency class. This class brings depth and veteran capabilities to a young roster.
There’s a log of buzz in Jacksonville this week, and fans are excited about what’s to come for their Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.
