Fantasy Football Week 4 QB Streamers

If you’re like me, you understand the value of streaming defenses and kickers. It seems to be almost an unwritten rule that you need quarterbacks in fantasy that you can rotate around between your bench and starting spot. When streamers come up, possibly because they are less likely to be out in masses due to injury, quarterbacks are often forgotten about. It’s time to throw that old way of thinking out. Going into Week 4, three of the top 10 quarterbacks in fantasy football are available on waivers, showing just how much value is sitting around week-to-week, even at the quarterback position.

Read on for three QB fantasy football streamers that are worth consideration for Week 4. In some cases, one might still be able to claim these passers off of waivers. In order to be included in the fantasy football QB streamers article, they must be owned in less than 60 percent of ESPN leagues.

Week 4 Fantasy Football QB Streamers

Kirk Cousins | Minnesota Vikings (vs CLE)

Last week, I had Kirk Cousins in as a streamer candidate as well. All he did was complete 30-of-38 passes for over 320 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Seattle. Cousins has dropped 22 points and 25 points twice in three games this season. He’s as consistent as they come, and now he faces a tougher Cleveland defense. While that would usually cause some concern for others, it shouldn’t for Cousins.

Cleveland can’t just sit back on Cousins and let Minnesota run. You could argue that Alexander Mattison looked even better than Dalvin Cook has this season, as Cook had to sit due to injury. Cleveland has to respect this run game, and that is what always keeps Cousins a solid play. He is QB4 so far for a reason, and Cleveland is the 18th-ranked defense against QBs. Cousins is matchup and game script-proof and is even more so having to play catch-up with the Browns.

Sam Darnold | Carolina Panthers (at DAL)

Sam Darnold has been the perfect example this year of what happens when you escape the Jets franchise, and more importantly, Adam Gase. Darnold is completing 68% of his passes for 888 yards, six total touchdowns and just one interception. While his name might not look as pretty as a Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, he’s QB12 so far this season. For some reason though, Darnold is rostered in just 15.1% of fantasy football leagues. The next matchup for Darnold is the Dallas Cowboys in Jerry’s World.

Dallas’ defense ranks 21st against QBs in fantasy. Not only is that good for Darnold, but Carolina has also not seen an offense anywhere near that of the Cowboys. Darnold will for sure be playing from behind for most, if not all, of this game. That will only make the passing game that much more important and keep him churning out the fantasy points. In a week where plenty of quarterbacks have tough assignments, Darnold is as good as it gets. He’s been solid, he has a good matchup and he’ll have a fantastic game script.

Jameis Winston | New Orleans Saints (vs NYG)

Sean Payton has put a cap on the top of Jameis Winston at the quarterback position. It’s clear that he is being limited so as to try to eradicate the wild turnovers from his game. Against Green Bay, he got the touchdowns to make it work. Against Carolina and New England, without those touchdowns, he left much to be desired. With the Giants this week, we should expect for Payton to let him loose just a little bit more. He won’t be released to his Tampa Bay levels, but New Orleans will let him sling it.

The Giants are not a good team, but they know the only chance they have to beat the Saints is to make Winston beat them. Winston did it against Green Bay, and I wouldn’t expect anything different against a mid-tier defense like the Giants.
