Fantasy Football Week 3 Defense Streamers Include Cincinnati Bengals

The overarching theme of this week’s FlurrySports NFL Power Rankings is that virtually every NFL team sucks. In a word, yes. With injuries starting to mount, rookie and backup quarterbacks continuing to struggle and offensive line play across the league remaining well below average, there are plenty of matchups to target for fantasy football defense streamers. Fading inexperienced quarterbacks and bad O-lines will always be a solid strategy when streaming the position.

Each week, this column will highlight some of the top fantasy football defense streamers that are widely available and ready to be scooped up at a moment’s notice. Read on for our top D/ST streamers and best positional matchups for Week 3.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Defense Streamers

Cincinnati Bengals (31.8%)

The Cincinnati Bengals might be 0-2, but Lou Anarumo has his defense in solid form out of the gates. Cincinnati did an excellent job in defeat this past weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs. The defense forced three turnovers and held Patrick Mahomes to only 151 yards passing. Trey Hendrickson led the way and was a problem all game, finishing with a pair of sacks. If the Bengals could contain the Chiefs’ explosive offense to the extent that they did, one has to view them as a stellar fantasy football Week 3 streamers option at defense.

Cincinnati will host the Washington Commanders on Monday night this week. Yes, the Commies got a win last week and put up 425 yards of total offense. However, practically any team minus Carolina could do so against the New York Giants. What’s more, they never even scored a touchdown. Jayden Daniels is still a rookie QB, the offense is still void of reliable pass-catchers and the offensive line still can’t block anyone. The Bengals are desperate for a win and should dictate terms in this contest.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (28.2%)

Admittedly, there is some risk in selecting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as one of our top fantasy football defense streamers candidates for Week 3. Tampa Bay was already banged up in the secondary ahead of last week’s game at Detroit, with safety Antoine Winfield Jr. being the most notable absence. That didn’t stop the Bucs from baiting Jared Goff into multiple interceptions in a thoroughly impressive road win over the Lions. Meanwhile, star defensive tackle and run-stopper Vita Vea is now considered day-to-day with an MCL sprain.

Despite the injury concerns at both levels of the defense, a home game against the Denver Broncos makes this defense a solid option in Week 3. Denver lacks the talent and firepower in the passing game to take advantage of the banged-up secondary. Todd Bowles is sure to blitz Bo Nix into some mistakes, and can likely deploy extra bodies to shut down what is already a middling Broncos’ rushing attack if Vea misses the game entirely or is limited.

Tennessee Titans (1.6%)

I don’t want to overreact, but the Tennessee Titans would be 2-0 right now if Will Levis wasn’t their quarterback. You know it, they know it, hell, everyone knows it. Well, except for maybe Levis himself. At any rate, Tennessee’s defense has looked the part through the first two games. As far as stats are concerned, the unit has compiled four sacks thus far and one takeaway. There is nothing sexy about the Titans in general, and they are widely available as a D/ST streamer choice as a result.

The Titans will look to get off the schneid at home in Week 3 when they host the Green Bay Packers. In vintage NFL booking fashion, Malik Willis will be quarterbacking the Packers in this matchup. Willis had to do virtually nothing last week as Green Bay ran the ball effectively from the onset of their win over Indianapolis. The Titans rank 10th in rushing yards allowed through two games, and one has to believe they will commit extra defenders to the box. Simply forcing Willis to participate in the game should lead to a productive fantasy output.
