There are always plenty of solid RB options to add as fantasy football waiver wire pickups every week, but one that was just given the primary workload in the backfield of a very good offense is Isiah Pacheco. The rookie running back was “named starter” back in Week 7 by head coach Andy Reid, but hedidn’t impress much until Week 10, when his workload increased.
It’s hard to trust running backs in the Chiefs’ offense because they don’t utilize them as much as they should, but an injury to Clyde Edwards-Helaire has opened up the backfield wide-open for the Isiah Pacheco fantasy football value to flourish and for him to claim the RB1 down the stretch of the season.
Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup in Week 12
Even if Edwards-Helaire’s injury isn’t deemed serious, the backfield was slowly becoming Pacheco’s the last few weeks. Isiah Pacheco has carried the ball at least 15 times in two straight games, including a 100-yard performance on Sunday Night Football. Jerick McKinnon out-snapped him 52% to 40%, but McKinnon is a pure pass-catching back that rarely sees carries out of the backfield.
In games where the Chiefs will need to throw to stay in it, the Isiah Pacheco fantasy football value takes a hit because McKinnon will be out there. However, the Chiefs aren’t playing from behind very often and his role as the workhorse should be a regular occurrence, especially if they take their time with CEH’s injury.
