Two weeks down and we have another week of games in the books with more analysis and data to help us identify new trends. If you have a Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray or Patrick Mahomes on your roster, you already know what to do. If you don’t and have to make a tough choice, this is the place to be for those tough fantasy football start or sit decisions in single QB leagues.
Welcome to our weekly fantasy football QB start or sit, and back by popular demand is a team name suggestion with each player as well. Good luck this week!
Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 3 QBs
Start: Daniel Jones vs. Falcons
Team Name: Mr. Jones and Me
Through the first two weeks of the season, the top five fantasy football QBs are Kyler Murray, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and…Daniel Jones. That’s right, averaging 25.4 fantasy points per game (fppg) after matchups with the Broncos and Football Team defenses, that are no slouches, he gets a matchup with the Falcons D that is dead last in QB fantasy points allowed, giving up 29.1 per game. There you have it — the perfect recipe for a QB1 finish this week. Start him if you have him.
Start: Justin Fields at Browns
Team Name: Strawberry Fields Forever
Justin Fields is set to make his first NFL start this week just down the road from Columbus against the Cleveland Browns. In Week 1, the Browns gave up 33.3 fantasy points to Patrick Mahomes on 337 yards passing, three touchdowns and also 18 yards and a touchdown on the ground. If you are tallying at home, that is the Gettysburg address special, four scores.
Last week, the Houston Texans’ less-than-dynamic duo of Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills got 23.5 combined on 227 yards passing and two touchdowns, with another 14 on the ground and a touchdown. Now, starting a rookie QB in his first career start on the road is not something for the faint of heart, but with his rushing ability to help provide a solid floor he will do just fine this week and approach low-end QB1 stats.

Sit: Joe Burrow at Steelers
Team Name: Burrowed Time
Having been sacked nine times in his first two games of the season, behind only Zach Wilson with 10 and tied with Ryan Tannehill, Joe Burrow is heading to Blitzburgh for a matchup with the Steelers D. After two games, Burrow sits at QB21, and while his future is still bright, the immediate future is downright foggy. Last year in his only game against the Steelers, Burrow put up 12.5 fantasy points, going 21/40 for 213 yards and a touchdown while getting sacked four times. With reports that T.J. Watt is now looking like he is going to play this weekend, the outlook is bleak. Leave him on your bench for this week. See that poetry there?
Sit: Baker Mayfield vs. Bears
Team Name: Baker’s Dozen
Baker Mayfield is currently the QB20 after two games and has now lost Jarvis Landry to IR for at least the next three weeks. While Odell Beckham Jr. might be back this week, he will very likely be on a limited snap count, as the Browns will look to ease him back in following his ACL surgery. Also working against Mayfield is having the best 1-2 punch in the league at RB, with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and an offense that passes less than 47% of the time, the fourth-lowest percent in the league. Finally, the matchup is against the Bears, who give up only 18.8 fppg and are coming off a game where they sacked Joe Burrow four times and picked him off three.
There are better options this week, so look elsewhere for your fantasy football starter.
