Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 9 QBs

Start: Justin Fields Fantasy Outlook vs. Dolphins

After a slow start to the season where he was the QB31 through the first four weeks, averaging only 10.4 fantasy points per game (fppg), Justin Fields has improved each week since. Going back to his abysmal 6.9 fantasy point game in Week 3, he has now put up 10.2, 17.0, 19.4, 24.4 and 26.0 fantasy point performances since then. He is the QB6 over the last four weeks, averaging 21.7 points. Fields provides a solid floor with his rushing production, averaging 69.2 rushing yards per game over that span, and he gets a nice matchup with the Miami Dolphins this week. Get him in your lineup this week.

Start: Geno Smith Fantasy Outlook vs. Cardinals

The last time the Seattle Seahawks played the Arizona Cardinals, Geno Smith had one of two games this season where he failed to throw for a touchdown. He still put up 12.7 fantasy points despite only throwing for 197 yards by adding another 48 yards rushing. The Cardinals are allowing 20.7 fppg to opposing QBs on the season, and Smith should be closer to that number this time around. With six teams on bye, look for Smith to finish as a QB1 this week in a game that is tied for the highest total for the week.

Sit: Jared Goff Fantasy Outlook vs. Packers

Jared Goff has had a couple of nice weeks this season, including back in Week 2, when he put up 26.0 fantasy points against the Washington Commanders and again in Week 4 when he led all QBs with 34.2 fantasy points. Aside from these two spikes however he has failed to finish as a QB1 in his other five starts. This week he draws a matchup with the Green Bay Packers who are allowing only 12.9 (fppg) to opposing QBs and just got done holding Josh Allen to only 19.6 fantasy points his lowest number of the year. Even with six teams on bye this week Goff belongs on the fantasy bench.

Sit: Matthew Stafford Fantasy Outlook vs. Buccaneers

From the current Detroit Lions QB to the former, Matthew Stafford is coming off of his second-best fantasy game last week against the San Francisco 49ers where he put up 17.4 fantasy points that was only good for QB17 on the week, however. That makes it five weeks since Stafford last put up QB1 numbers back in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons who give up 21.8 fppg to QBs on the season the third-highest number in the league. This week in a matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look for Stafford to keep the streak of non-QB1 starts going. Leave him on the bench.
