Fantasy Football Draft ADP Update: Romeo Doubs Rises, A.J. Green Falls

Every single Tuesday during August, we will be giving a fantasy football draft ADP update. ADP stands for Average Draft Position. So, we will be looking at the five biggest risers and fallers in fantasy football drafts over the past week.

As the summer progresses, this data will become more accurate, relevant and important. For the second week of August, the data mostly reflects the shift from CPU autopicks to more humans doing fantasy football mock drafts. This means many quarterbacks, tight ends, kickers and defense will be trending down draftboards since most people would draft them later whereas many autopicks look to fill starting lineups before drafting bench players.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at the five biggest risers and fallers from the past week in the fantasy football draft ADP for PPR leagues.

5 Biggest Weekly Risers | Fantasy Football Draft ADP

After looking at the fantasy football draft data over the past week, these are the top five risers in the ADP.

  1. Romeo Doubs, WR, GB — Up 51.2 to 154.6, WR62 Overall
  2. Isaiah McKenzie, WR, BUF — Up 44.6 to 153.3, WR61 Overall
  3. K.J. Osborn, WR, MIN — Up 24.7 to 155.3, WR63 Overall
  4. Detroit Lions DST — Up 7.8 to 150.9, DST9 Overall
  5. David Njoku, TE, CLE — Up 7.6 to 153.4, TE19 Overall

After discussing Allen Lazard last week, with the Packers not bringing in other pass-catchers, the top fantasy football draft ADP riser of the week is fourth-round rookie Romeo Doubs. The rookie has looked good in camp, has torched Eric Stokes constantly, and has the trust of Aaron Rodgers. We have learned in the past that the trust of Rodgers goes a long way to earning snaps and targets.

Isaiah McKenzie is another wide receiver that has impressed in training camp. McKenzie is proving he deserves to be the slot for the Bills, which makes this an interesting situation to watch, since Buffalo also has Jamison Crowder and Khalil Shakir.

K.J. Osborn is a solid slot receiver for the Vikings. His role is safe and he will earn plenty of targets this season. David Njoku is another player who should have guaranteed targets, and with Jacoby Brissett looking like the starter for the majority of the year in Cleveland, the tight end will be utilized in Cleveland, which is great news for Njoku.

The Detroit Lions DST being among the biggest risers in fantasy football mocks drafts is the puzzling one. Currently, the Lions DST is a top-10 unit, according to their fantasy football ADP. I am unsure why, but don’t draft this unit ninth.

5 Biggest Weekly Fallers | Fantasy Football Draft ADP

After looking at the fantasy football draft data over the past week, these are the top five fallers in the ADP.

  1. A.J. Green, WR, ARI — Down 13.5 to 166.3, WR76 Overall
  2. Calvin Ridley, WR, ATL — Down 7.4 to 140, WR56 Overall
  3. Logan Thomas, TE, WAS — Down 7.3 to 155.7, TE21 Overall
  4. Washington Commanders DST — Down 5.8 to 158.1, DST13 Overall
  5. Cincinnati Bengals DST — Down 5.3 to 158.5, DST14 Overall

Since there are fewer autopicks now that we are now in fantasy football draft season, there will be fewer selections of inactive players, like Calvin Ridley. More real people doing fantasy football mock drafts mean fewer teams doubling up at the DST spot. For this reason, that’s why we see the DST13 and DST14 falling, since the majority of drafts are 12 teams or less.

Logan Thomas has still not practiced and may not play Week 1, which is why he is falling in the fantasy football draft ADP. The puzzling one here is A.J. Green, who falls the furthest this week. Yes, there is a lot of drama in Arizona. And yes, there are many mouths to feed, but there haven’t been any negative reports about Green. The timing of him falling is strange, but if he continues to fall, he could be a nice value pick, with DeAndre Hopkins suspended for the first part of the season.
