The Atlanta Falcons currently hold the No. 4 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Clearly, there has been a lot of discussion around what the Falcons should do with the pick. It seems most Falcons fans are not sold on drafting a quarterback, after Arthur Smith has made clear that he wants to keep Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. So, maybe the Falcons should move out of this draft position and take a player like Kyle Pitts.
Falcons Draft Target: Kyle Pitts
Why trade back and go for Kyle Pitts when you seem to have OL and DL needs? Also, let’s not forget Ryan was sacked 41 times in 2020, which was the fifth-most of any quarterback. You go after Pitts because this kid could potentially be a game-changer in himself. Hayden Hurst, the Falcons current tight end, will have his contract end in 2021. Here is a chance for the Falcons to keep their offense elite while getting younger. Trading back will also help the Falcons get more help in desperate areas, as listed before.
Think about how fluent of an offense this will be with a two tight end system. Hurst and Pitts would be among the best TE rooms in the NFL. And, with Kyle Pitts’ blocking improving greatly in 2020, that takes a lot of pressure off Hurst. The Falcons also will have a very proficient offensive play-caller in Arthur Smith. This would no doubt have analysts and commentators presuming the Falcons to have a top offense in the league for 2021 and beyond.
The Falcons can target OL, RB, DL and S throughout the rest of the draft and into NFL Free Agency. Getting Pitts would return to the Falcons to having one of the best offenses in the NFL. Yes, at the same level as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, Hayden Hurst and Kyle Pitts? Weapons all over the board and a complete nightmare scenario for any defense. We have never seen this much raw talent, athleticism and blocking ability from a tight end coming right our of college in awhile.
Kyle Pitts has a chance to be the new standard for his position.
