Streaming tight ends is a very popular way to play fantasy football. When doing this, though, you are most likely choosing between a couple of players to put into that spot. I am here to help you give an idea of who to choose using players who are in positions to succeed this week. Below, we will help you make those tough decisions in that tight end grey area, discussing our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em players!

Guys like Trey McBride and Travis Kelce are not going to be covered in this article. Those guys are must-starts no matter who they play on any given week. They are just too good of players to sit. The idea is that we are taking those players who may be sitting on your bench as number two tight ends and making the decision. Get the idea?

Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner, and other members, where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 13 TEs

Start: Taysom Hill Fantasy Outlook vs Miami Dolphins

We are at the inevitable point of the season where Taysom Hill has to be talked about when we debate who to put into our starting lineup. With Tyler Shough starting at quarterback, there is no reason why the Saints have to keep him in the game. Enter Taysom Hill. The veteran comes into play for Week 13 as Alvin Kamara was injured last week, and the quarterback turned tight end picked up 10 carries. As has been the case when the Saints get to the red zone, Hill comes into the game in a wildcat-type role.

This week, the Saints take on the Dolphins, who have struggled against both the run in general and passes to tight ends. Against the run, where Hill will be more of a factor, the Dolphins are giving up 1,246 rushing yards. Against tight ends, Miami is giving up 9.5 fantasy points per game this season. That includes giving up 760 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns. While risky, Taysom Hill is a sneaky “start” to kick off our Week 13 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em.

Start: Dalton Schultz Fantasy Outlook vs Indianapolis Colts

Don’t look now, but Dalton Schultz has been one of the better tight ends in fantasy football over the past six weeks. Even with CJ Stroud going down with an injury, Schultz has been able to string together a handful of good finishes. Over that six-week stretch, Schultz has finished as TE8, TE28, TE7, TE4 and TE10. Last week, that great stretch did come to a halt as he was able to haul in just one reception and finished as TE45. Even with the stinker last week, it has become clear that Schultz has established himself among the top secondary pass catchers in this Houston offense behind Nico Collins. And coming off of that stinker, I am betting on Schultz to turn it around and have a good week.

That bet is coming on the back of the great matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. For as good as the Colts have been this season, something that they have struggled with has been defending the tight end position. On the season, opposing tight ends are averaging 9.4 fantasy points per game. That comes out to a total of 794 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. With Stroud stepping back into the offense, Schultz will be used as that big-bodied target to help ease the Ohio State alum back into his role.

Sit: Mason Taylor Fantasy Outlook vs Atlanta Falcons

It has been really hard to predict what we are going to get out of Mason Taylor on a week-to-week basis. On paper, it looks like he should be one of the better low-owned options at the tight end position, but the results have not fully been there. In a pass-catching-depleted offense, Taylor’s best finish this season was TE7, and he has finished below TE50 more times than he has finished higher than TE10. It has become clear that he is just not used in this offense, and if you have the opportunity, jump off the Mason Taylor ship and look for another option.

That is especially true this week, as even with his low usage, he has a terrible matchup against the Atlanta Falcons this week. With how much of a disaster the Falcons’ season has been this year, one thing that they have succeeded in is limiting opposing tight ends — kind of the inverse of the Indianapolis Colts. On the season, tight ends are scoring just four fantasy points per game against the Falcons. Those numbers equate to just 432 receiving yards and just one receiving touchdown on 39 receptions. There is no real reason to own Taylor right now, and if you do, you surely aren’t playing him against a good Falcons secondary this week.

Sit: Colston Loveland Fantasy Outlook vs Philadelphia Eagles

The final “sit” of the Week 13 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article comes by way of the Chicago Bears. If you read my QB Start/Sit, this will sound familiar to my line of thinking on Caleb Williams. Colston Loveland has had games this season where I have labeled him a must-start and others where there are much better options to choose from. Looking at his matchup this week against the Philadelphia Eagles, I am more inclined to say that he is in that spot where there are better options to choose than Loveland this week.

That all has to do with how well Philadelphia’s defense has been playing as of recently. The Eagles have been great against the tight end position, as they are giving up just 3.8 fantasy points per game to the position. That includes 356 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 43 total receptions. The matter of fact is that this is probably the most hostile environment that Caleb Williams has played in to this point in his career, and with how big and fast the Eagles linebackers are, taking away Loveland is going to be key to getting after Williams all game for Philadelphia.
