Week 3 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em WR analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Chicago Bears WR Rome Odunze.
Passing attacks around the league just got a bit more complicated to project. Not only are a number of top wide receivers on the injury report this week, but several starting quarterbacks will be out as well. This has affected several players we would typically view as starters, leading to tough decisions needing to be made. In this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, we will be talking about the WR2/3 grey area, where you may have some tough decisions that will need to be made.
Players like Tee Higgins, Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Brian Thomas Jr. will not be discussed. Yes, start them. You drafted them early for a reason, and it’s too early to move away from them! Instead, we are more concerned about the low-end WR2 or WR3 area where a player with a solid matchup should return value that is worth the start, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 3 WRs
Start: Rome Odunze Fantasy Outlook vs Cowboys
Zach Brunner’s Week 3 Fantasy Football Rankings
While DJ Moore draws much of the defense’s attention, Odunze has been able to find production through two games. He has turned 20 targets into 13 receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns. The Bears’ offensive line is solid, while the Cowboys’ pass rush hasn’t been great, leading to them signing Jadeveon Clowney. The former first overall draft pick likely won’t solve all of these issues. So, if Caleb Williams can set up and throw a bit in this game, he should be able to take advantage of some downfield shots to Rome Odunze.

Sit: DeVonta Smith Fantasy Outlook vs Rams
When the Philadelphia Eagles look across the field on Sunday, they will see a talented Los Angeles Rams team. Their offense in particular can be scary, and the Eagles will do everything in their power to keep Matthew Stafford off the field. The best way to do that is to run the ball and control the clock. We have seen the Eagles do this a lot this season, leading to just 45 pass attempts through two games. Obviously, this is terrible for DeVonta Smith.
Given the lack of passes in the air, it’s no wonder that Smith has just seven receptions so far. Yes, his receiving pace should pick up over the course of the season. If the Eagles get down in this game early, we will see more passes here as well. However, if the Eagles execute their game plan, it will be running the ball a ton, and I am much more comfortable assuming the Super Bowl champs execute their plan at home.
The Rams have been solid against the pass this season, allowing a 63% completion rate. It could be tough to take downfield shots against this defense, so there isn’t a good reason to assume Smith reverses path this week. Make him earn his starting spot back in your lineup.
Sit: Quentin Johnston Fantasy Outlook vs Broncos
In PPR leagues, Quentin Johnston is the WR7 this season, totaling over 15 points in each game. Three touchdowns in two games have contributed to this fast start. However, he is on the “sit” side of the Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em this week against the Denver Broncos.
Last week, the Broncos’ tough defense got a bit exposed, surrendering 29 points to the Indianapolis Colts. Given the heartbreaking, last-second loss, the Denver defense will likely respond in Week 3. Still, they were not bad against outside receivers last week, allowing four catches for 40 yards to Michael Pittman Jr. The Broncos have allowed just 227 receiving yards to WRs this season, and they are one of the few teams not to allow a touchdown.
While Johnston has gotten off to a fast start and has made some big plays, he’s not that skilled a receiver. He’s athletic, but not skilled. That’s not enough to expose a defense as tough and well-coached as Denver’s. If anyone is catching passes in this game, it is the technical receivers like Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen. Johnston will likely be used to block and create space with his routes, not move the chains.
