Week 2 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em RB analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams

The number of committee backfields in the NFL is at an all-time high. So, figuring out who to start in your RB2 slot or Flex position can be a tough decision. Luckily, that’s where we come in with this Week 2 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article!

No, you will not be hearing about Saquon Barkley or Ashton Jeanty. Yes, start them. I won’t be one of those fake fantasy analysts who have the “bold” take that Derrick Henry could be an RB1. Really? No shit.

Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 2 RBs

Start: Javonte Williams Fantasy Outlook vs Giants

FantasyPros’ Expert Consensus Ranking (ECR) Rank: 22

Zach Brunner’s Week 2 Fantasy Football Rankings

It feels like so long ago already that Jalen Carter spat on Dak Prescott before Javonte Williams dominated carries to kick off the NFL season. There were so many storylines in that game alone that most are forgetting about Williams, so let’s lead off our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em so you don’t forget a damn thing.

Not only did Williams dominate playing time, seeing 47/61 snaps, but he also carried the ball in 15 of Dallas’ 19 running back carries. This resulted in him scoring two touchdowns while he solidified himself atop the depth chart a little bit more. All offseason, I said the majority ball carriers in Dallas would be valuable due to this offensive line, and I’m confident in saying Williams is valuable this week.

The Cowboys play a Giants team that has a strong front seven, but they still gave up 220 yards on the ground last week. Dallas’ offense is good, and they will be able to move the ball. Look for them to be in scoring position often, and Williams could hear his number called on the goal line a lot this season.

Start: Austin Ekeler Fantasy Outlook at Packers

ECR Ranks: 37

While the ceiling likely isn’t very high for veteran Austin Ekeler on Thursday Night Football, the floor for him is high in PPR leagues. If there’s one thing that remains steady about the Green Bay Packers’ defense, regardless of any superstar they trade for, it’s that they do not cover routes out of the backfield well.

Last week, Green Bay gave up 14 receptions to Detroit running backs. This pattern is seen clearly last season as well, with the Packers giving up the third-most receptions to the position (91). We know Austin Ekeler’s role is to be a dual-threat out of the backfield. In a close game against the Giants in Week 1, this meant six carries and three receptions. In a game where Washington is the underdog, it would not be surprising to see Ekeler push for six receptions, which gives you a great baseline for points. If you’re desperate, he is a flex with upside.

Sit: Tyrone Tracy Jr. Fantasy Outlook at Cowboys

ECR Rank: 33

It was a disappointing first week for Tyrone Tracy Jr. fantasy owners. He totaled just 24 yards on 10 carries, then he caught just two passes for 11 yards. There is a lot wrong with the Giants’ offense, which means his touchdown upside is low. However, the offensive line not being good enough to exceed three yards per carry against the Commanders is tough.

On top of that, his usage in the passing game is inexcusable. If you don’t know, Tracy is a former wide receiver, transitioning to running back for his final collegiate season. One would think an offensive mind like Brian Daboll could be more creative with Tracy as a receiver. So far, he seems unwilling to do so, and that will severely limit his ceiling all season long.

So, the Giants’ offense isn’t moving the ball well, Tracy isn’t catching many passes, and he also isn’t going to be the short-yardage running back if they get to the goal line. If the Cowboys can hold Saquon Barkley in check, they can do the same with the Giants’ backfield.

Sit: Isiah Pacheco Fantasy Outlook vs Eagles

ECR Rank: 31

We finish our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em with Isiah Pacheco. I am unsure how you could have faith in any Kansas City Chiefs running back this week. Last week, Kareem Hunt often came in on the important downs, and they carried the ball just five times each. As for the snap count, Pacheco saw 31/61 snaps in the game. Does this inspire confidence?

On top of that, he faces a Philadelphia Eagles defense that gets an angry, spit-covered Jalen Carter back up front. If the Chiefs are to move the football, it feels like they will once again have to resort to quick throws to move the chains. If this is the case, Pacheco, unfortunately, is nearly removed from the game plan, meaning he will need a touchdown to save his fantasy day. There is no need to start him in this matchup.
