Late-Round Fantasy Football Sleepers Who Will Win You a Championship
Matthew Stafford (ADP 140)
Heading into his age-37 season, Matthew Stafford still ranks among the best quarterbacks in the NFL. This season, I would expect that production to continue as the Rams look like one of the better teams to challenge the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC this season. That, of course, starts with the quarterback position.
Coming into this season, Stafford has a much better receiving corps compared to his last couple of seasons in Los Angeles. Cooper Kupp may be out of town, but the Rams brought in Davante Adams. Partnering Adams with Puka Nacua means that one of them will always see the number two coverage from the defense, which Stafford is as good as anyone at exploiting. Tyler Higbee will be healthy to start the year, and the team drafted the dynamic Terrence Ferguson from Oregon. With Sean McVay calling plays, we know that there will be a healthy amount of rushing to supplement the pass game, which should only help Stafford and the passing game.
Add to the fact that the Rams have the Texans, Colts, Ravens, Jaguars, Panthers, Cardinals, Lions and Falcons on the schedule, who all were ranked towards the bottom in passing defense last year, Stafford should rank higher than what he currently is being drafted at, making him among the best fantasy football sleepers at the position.

Tre Harris (ADP 146)
To aid in their receiving room, the Los Angeles Chargers selected Tre Harris in the second round of the draft. Harris is a guy who should instantly bring an impact to the Chargers. At 6-2, 210 lbs, Harris showed off his physicality and field-stretching abilities as one of the best deep threats in college football last year.
Harris should instantly slot in as a starting outside receiver to partner with Ladd McConkey in the slot. We have seen Mike Williams thrive in this spot with the Chargers under the leadership of Justin Herbert. Not that Harris has the same athletic ability as Williams, but he is no slouch when it comes to going for jump balls. With McConkey’s ability to work the middle of the field, Harris should see some single coverage this season. Given the Chargers’ run-first approach, that only sets up the deep shots that will go to Harris.
We know that Herbert is willing to take those one-on-one jump balls, and given Quentin Johnston’s inconsistency, it is hard to believe that he gets those opportunities.
Dylan Sampson (ADP 171)
When we are looking at late-round fantasy football sleepers, the idea is to take the players with the highest upside for carries and/or receptions. There might not be a better gamble with your late-round pick than Dylan Sampson.
Sampson was the second running back that the Browns drafted this year after Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins. Given the uncertainty now surrounding Judkins, Sampson has received a ton of quality reps during training camp. Assuming Judkins misses time at some point, that makes Sampson the RB2 in Cleveland behind Jerome Ford. With the Browns drafting two running backs this year, it is clear that they are not completely sure about Ford and the current state of the running back room. We have yet to see Ford succeed in a true workhorse role.
To me, that means if Judkins misses early time, Sampson could immediately see time in somewhat of a committee. If Sampson were to perform well in that committee, then I don’t see why the Browns won’t give him as much work as they think necessary. Either way, when looking at the draft board, Sampson will be involved in the scheme, something that you can’t say about the other running backs being drafted around him.
