Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Hopefully, you are getting ready for a feast with family, friends and, of course, football. Week 12 is here and the Cardinals and Chiefs both have the week off. As always, this article is not here for the obvious plays, so if you have Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler or Jonathan Taylor, you know what to do. This article will look at fantasy football RBs on the fringe of RB2/Flex status to help you make the tough choices to win your matchups. Let’s get to it!

Fantasy Football Start or Sit: Week 12 RBs

    Start: Javonte Williams vs. Chargers

    Team Name: What Javonte?

With the snap rate for Javonte Williams increasing heading into the bye week and vice versa for Melvin Gordon, there is a real possibility that Williams will take on a larger role coming down the stretch. It is a pretty nice schedule for the fantasy playoffs as well, as it rates out as the best remaining schedule for fantasy football RBs. This week, he gets the Chargers, who have given up a league-worst 1,199 yards rushing and second-worst 13 touchdowns on the ground. Even if he gets only 11-15 touches this week, that should be enough to return RB2 value with this matchup.

Start: Mark Ingram II vs. Bills

Team Name: Wham Bam Thank you ‘Gram

With Alvin Kamara out, Mark Ingram is a plug-and-play RB2, even in a tough matchup against the Bills. In his two prior starts with Kamara out, Ingram has put up 20.8 and 17.3 fantasy points with his heavy workload. The Bills have allowed 21.4 fantasy points per game (fppg) to opposing RBs, but the volume will be there, as Ingram has had 21 and 24 touches the last two games, with a healthy seven and eight targets to provide a solid PPR floor. Check the injury report, but as long as he is starting, he belongs in lineups this week.

    Sit: Myles Gaskin vs. Panthers

    Team Name: Gaskin Dobbins

It is an even week, which means it’s time to put Myles Gaskin back on your bench. As mentioned last week, Gaskin has been a rollercoaster of production, alternating between single-digit fantasy point outings and RB2 or better performances. In even weeks, he has put up 8.6, 0.3, 3.4, 8.5 and 5.5 fantasy points. And in odd weeks, he has put up 12.6, 10.4, 31.9, 17.7, 15.7 and 18.6. In addition to the odd-even thing, he also faces a tough matchup against the Panthers, who are only giving up 18.6 fantasy points per game to opposing RBs, good for third-best in the league. If you have another viable option this week, get them in your lineup instead.

    Sit: David Johnson vs. Jets

    Team Name: David vs. Goliath

If you have been a regular to this article, first off, thank you for your support, and second, you know the routine — start your RBs against the Jets, but not this week. Despite allowing 1,171 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns on the ground and another 88 receptions for 655 yards and four touchdowns through the air to opposing RBs, David Johnson is still not worth starting. On the year, Johnson is averaging under three yards per carry. Over his last three games, he has combined for 19 carries and 33 yards, good for 1.7 yards per carry. He has added seven receptions over this stretch as well, but only for 44 yards. Even in a dream matchup, Johnson is best left on benches or the fantasy football waiver wire this week.
