Which State is Sending the Most Athletes to 2026 Winter Olympics?

Take a look at which states produced the most athletes participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.

The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics are underway, with the United States sending the most athletes to the Olympic Games. Team USA has a whopping 234 athletes participating, while the home country of Italy has 196 (to put it in perspective). This is the most athletes America has ever had qualified for the Winter Olympic Games. While the USA typically performs much better in the Summer Games instead of Winter, it seems like we are ready to make a statement this time around.

Across the 234 individual athletes for our country competing, 32 of our 50 states are represented. Below, we will go over how many athletes come from each state as well as list the full Team USA roster. In a time when our nation is very divided, hopefully, we can come together and cheer on our country’s best winter sports athletes against those other loser countries.

Which State is Sending the Most Athletes to 2026 Winter Olympics?

As we talked about above, 32 states are represented across our 234 athletes. But which state is sending the most athletes to the 2026 Winter Olympics? It should come as no surprise that Colorado, host of the 2026 Winter X Games (Aspen), is sending the most athletes to the Milano Cortina Olympics, at 31 individual athletes.

Aside from Colorado, several northern states are represented really well. Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are combining to send 52 Olympians — nearly a quarter of the Team USA Winter Olympics roster. The two colleges with the most representatives are Minnesota (seven) and Boston College (six).

The youngest athlete on the roster is freeskier Abby Winterberger (great name), who is 15. The oldest is 54-year-old curler Rick Ruohonen.
