Week 17 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em QB analysis from FlurrySports includes San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy.

It is championship week! Congratulations for making it as far as you have! Now we need to make those last adjustments before you can call yourself a champion. If you are not certain about your quarterback position and need some help, fret not! The following Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article details two players you should start and two better left on your bench in Week 17. With every team playing this week, there are many different directions that you can go when looking at building your lineup this week, especially at the quarterback position.

The elite quarterbacks, like Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts, will not be mentioned. Yes, start them. Who do they play? Doesn’t matter. Instead, we will be talking about the players who may be on the borderline of that starting lineup threshold. These are the players that you are debating on starting, or are sitting as QB2s on your bench. So, depending on the matchup, they could be a start or a sit. Make sense?

Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out our weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with Zach Brunner and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 17 QBs

Zach Brunner’s Week 17 Fantasy Football Rankings

Start: Brock Purdy Fantasy Outlook vs Chicago Bears

Last week, Brock Purdy absolutely cooked the battered Indianapolis defense to a tune of 295 yards and five touchdowns, finishing the week as QB1. That has not been Purdy’s only high finish this year as in the games that he has started, the 25-year old has been one of the better fantasy options at the position. Over the past six weeks, Purdy has finishes of QB6, QB20, QB16, QB4 and QB1. As the San Francisco 49ers continue to march towards the number one seed in the NFC, Purdy has been the main driving force of that.

This week, the 49ers take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, in one of the bigger games of the week. Both teams are going to make the playoffs, but in terms of seeding, this is second seed in the NFC vs the fifth seed in the NFC. San Francisco controls their destiny to the one seed, so it would be advantageous for them to be full go in this one. Luckily for Brock Purdy fantasy owners, the Bears have been bad against the quarterback position this season. On the year, they are allowing 20.4 fantasy points per game to the position, while giving up 3,433 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns. With Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle (even if Kittle doesn’t play, Purdy is fine) and Jauan Jennings, Purdy has more than enough at his disposal to expose the Bears suspect passing defense.

Start: Baker Mayfield Fantasy Outlook vs Miami Dolphins

To say that Baker Mayfield has not been the player that we all hoped he would be down the stretch of the fantasy playoffs is an understatement. While he has had some inconsistent play, the schedule and the injuries to his offensive line and receiving corps has limited his fantasy ceiling. Now, it finally looks like everyone is coming back at the right time to make that final push for the playoffs. With Bucky Irving, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and hopefully Tristan Wirfs back, all of a sudden it looks like Mayfield finally has some value in fantasy football this week.

Another thing that Mayfield has going for him this week is the matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Three of the last four quarterbacks that have played against Miami have scored over 20 points fantasy. On the season, the Dolphins are surrendering 21.1 fantasy points per game to the position, giving up 3,360 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Given that the Buccaneers are in a must-win situation, I expect Mayfield to rebound big time in this game and play this game like it were an actual playoff game.

Sit: Justin Herbert Fantasy Outlook vs Houston Texans

If you have been reading my Fantasy Football start ’em, Sit ’em articles all season long you will notice that I am continuing with my trend here of sitting the quarterback that is playing the Houston Texans. While Justin Herbert was awesome last week and probably helped propel you to a championship game appearance, that was against one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL. Last week, Herbert scored north of 30 fantasy points, which was actually the first time he scored more than 20 points since Week 9. I am not expecting that again this week, as we all know how good that Houston defense is.

On the season, the Texans are giving up just 13.7 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. In fact, in total, they have given up just 2,964 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, while coming away with 16 interceptions. Given that the Chargers are still going to be without offensive linemen in this game, Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter are in line to have big games. With the pressure all day on Herbert, it is going to be very hard for him to replicate that 30 point performance that we saw last week against Dallas.

Sit: Bryce Young Fantasy Outlook vs Seattle Seahawks

While it certainly seems like Bryce Young has turned a page in his NFL career as he continues to work to be the Panthers franchise quarterback, he still has yet to be that consistent fantasy option that we are all looking to. While he has had some great weeks this year, three finishes of QB8, QB2 and QB4, Young has had many more bad finishes. This season, he has finishes of QB25, QB27, QB29, QB24, QB23, QB29, QB29, QB21 and QB21. So while he has seen strides of being the guy in Carolina, when it comes to fantasy football, there have been way more bad weeks than good weeks.

I think that he is in line for another bad week this week as the Panthers take on the Seattle Seahawks in a matchup that we could possibly see in the playoffs. The Seahawks defense has looked big and fast all season long and are only giving up 17.1 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. They have given up totals of 3,438 passing yards and 20 passing touchdowns while intercepting 16 balls. It is no secret that this is going to be a tough game for the Panthers, so if you can go somewhere else from Young, you need to do that.
