Week 17 fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em WR analysis from FlurrySports includes the likes of Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders.
Merry Christmas and happy fantasy football championship! Now is not the time to drop the ball. Start your studs, drop the losers, and make smart decisions for everyone in between. I know it can be tough to come up with the correct answers for those tough questions, which is why you probably clicked this article. By the way, that was a smart choice!
In this weekly Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, we will be talking about the WR2/3 grey area, where you may have some tough decisions that will need to be made. Players like Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba will not be discussed. Yes, start them. They got you here! Instead, we are more concerned about the low-end WR2 or WR3 area where a player with a solid matchup should return value that is worth the start, and vice versa.
Now, labeling a player as a “sit” does not mean they are a must-sit player. As always, check out my weekly fantasy football rankings here. You can also become a member to join a group chat with me and other members where all fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em questions are welcomed!

Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em: Week 17 WRs
Start: Terry McLaurin Fantasy Outlook vs Cowboys
Zach Brunner’s Week 17 Fantasy Football Rankings
I have picked on Terry McLaurin plenty in these Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em articles this season, and he has been on the “start” side I think once as well. We will end the season on a high note by saying you should start him in Week 17. Marcus Mariota is trending towards not playing, but long-time veteran Josh Johnson is good enough to get the ball to McLaurin in this matchup.
McLaurin missed out on the Cowboys matchup earlier this season, so look for him to make up for lost time here. Dallas has been pretty damn terrible against the pass all season long, and with Quinnen Williams possibly missing a second straight game, the Commanders would have plenty of time upfront to pick on Dallas in this matchup. The Cowboys have allowed 7.7 yards per pass attempt this season, which is the third-most in the league. Without Williams rushing the pass last week, the Cowboys allowed 9.8 yards per pass attempt. Dallas has also allowed the most fantasy points to WRs this season.
Last season, McLaurin combined for 13 receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys. Let’s see if he can push for big numbers in his lone matchup against the divisional foe this season.
Start: Jauan Jennings Fantasy Outlook vs Bears
Jennings has found the end zone in six of his past seven games. He has a fantastic opportunity to keep the good times rolling here since the Bears have allowed the third-most fantasy points and third-most touchdowns to wide receivers this season. George Kittle is dealing with an ankle injury, so he may not play or could be limited, leading to Brock Purdy leaning on Jennings a bit more as well. Fire him up with confidence!

Sit: Troy Franklin Fantasy Outlook at Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are down to their third-string quarterback, on a short week, against the Denver Broncos, playing in the historic stadium they just announced they will be leaving. Will they score 10 points? I highly doubt it. You know to sit your Chiefs this week, but that’s too obvious. For this Week 17 Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em article, I am saying to sit Troy Franklin, the WR2 of the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos are favored by 13.5 points in a game with a projected total of 36.5 points. In other words, I see very little reason or pressure for the Broncos to pass much in this game. They will run the ball, keep the clock moving, and then get home to enjoy Christmas a little bit. When the Broncos take a run-heavy approach, Troy Franklin is the one to come off the field. Instead, Sean Payton loves the blocking ability of rookie Pat Bryant. And when he was banged up, they picked up another good blocker at WR in Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
I think the pass attempts are down, while Troy Franklin’s snaps are also down. This is a bad mix for fantasy football potential.
Sit: Marvin Harrison Jr. Fantasy Outlook at Bengals
Look, I understand the matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals initially looks too good to pass up, but don’t put your season on the line for Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s burnt you too many times already. You’re in an abusive relationship here, and you deserve better.
On top of you being a brave survivor of drafting Marvin Harrison Jr., the matchup actually may not be as great as it seems, despite the Bengals being absolutely garbage. That’s because their corners and safeties aren’t that bad. For the season, the Bengals have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. Even when the Chicago Bears put up 47 on them, the WRs didn’t do that great. Colston Loveland led the team with 118 yards. DJ Moore had 72 while Olamide Zaccheaus had 58, but then it was Caleb Williams and Kyle Monangai tied at 22 receiving yards for the next-most on the team.
For our final “sit” in our Fantasy Football Start ’em, Sit ’em articles this season, I really urge you to sit Marvin Harrison Jr., if you have someone more reliable, and frankly less abusive to your fantasy mental health, on your team.
