The world games were originally scheduled to take place in July of the last year, but as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games were pushed back one year, the world games were also rescheduled. The games are being organized with the support of the International Olympic Committee. More than 3600 elite athletes from around the world are expected to compete in 30 official sports in 54 disciplines across the different venues in the Birmingham area. The 2022 Birmingham World Games are scheduled to take place from July 7 to 17, 2022 with the events being played at 30 venues across the Birmingham area.
