Thurman vs Barrios Fight Preview

The undercard fills out with some names fans will recognize as they make the walk to the ring on Saturday night. Former super featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz is back in the co-main event when he takes on Keenan Carbajal at featherweight.

Santa Cruz dropped his title in his last outing when he was thunderously stopped by Gervonta “Tank” Davis in October 2020. Prior to that, he had won five in a row. Plus, former title challenger Abel Ramos returns in a welterweight contest against Lucas Santamaria, and former bantamweight and super bantamweight champion Luis Nery is back when he takes on Carlos Castro.

It will be interesting in this fight to see in what condition is the former welterweight champion Keith Thurman, especially with future fights in mind. It is possible that such a long inactivity has consequences in the way he moves in the ring. Instead, Mario Barrios fought only 6 months ago. We will also have to be attentive to possible exchanges since both have a good KO percentage, so it would not be strange for the fight to end this way.
