Bellator has come up with another event, a historical one. The promotion celebrates a milestone of hitting 300 numbered events with a stacked card containing three championship bouts.

Initially, there were supposed to be four title bouts at this historical event, but heavyweight champion Ryan Bader lost to his opponent, Linton Vassel. Still, three title fights on one card excite the fans.

Usman Nurmagomedov defends his lightweight championship against Brent Primus in the main event.

In the co-main event, Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg defends her title against Cat Zingano. On the main card, Liz Carmouche defends her flyweight title against Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, but Macfarlane cannot take the title because she missed weight.

Bellator 300 Preview

In the main event, promotion’s lightweight champion, Usman Nurmagomedov, will defend his title against former champion Brent Primus. In the co-main event, featherweight queen Cris Cyborg will take on undefeated-in-bellator Cat Zingano.

Before that, a champion vs ex-champion matchup is scheduled as Liz Carmouche puts her flyweight title up against Ilima-Lei Macfarlane.

Looking at the 13-fight prelim card, we see several exciting matchups as Lorrany Santos against Jackie Cataline in a Women’s Featherweight bout, Dmytrii Hrytsenko vs. Justin Montalvo, Bryce Meredith vs Miguel Peimbert in a Bantamweight contest, Bobby Seronio III vs Alberto Garcia in their Bantamweight fight, Leah McCourt vs. UFC veteran Sara McMann in a Women’s Featherweight bout, Henry Corrales vs. Kai Kamaka, and more.

Main Event: Usman Nurmagomedov vs Brent Primus

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s younger cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov (17-0 MMA, 6-0 BMMA), the current Bellator lightweight champion, will defend his title against previous champion Brent Primus (12-3 MMA, 10-3 BMMA) in the semi-final bout of the Bellator Lightweight Grand Prix.

Usman turned professional in 2017 and joined Bellator in 2021. He beat Pitbull in December 2022 for the lightweight title and successfully defended in the first round of the Grand Prix in March, defeating Benson Henderson via submission.

On the other hand, Primus turned professional in 2010. He defeated Michael Chandler in 2017 for the Bellator lightweight title but lost it in a rematch.

Since then, he has gone 4-2. He last appeared on May 12 when he defeated Mansour Barnaoui in the opening round at Bellator 296.

Liz Carmouche vs Ilima-Lei Macfarlane Preview

The final title fight at Bellator 300 sees the rare matchup between best friends when Liz Carmouche (19-7 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) defends her women’s flyweight title against longtime teammate and former champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (13-2 MMA, 12-2 BMMA).

This fight marks the second time champion Liz Carmouche will face an opponent that missed weight. Like Carmouche’s last championship encounter, challenger Macfarlane won’t be able to win the belt if she prevails. If Carmouche wins, she will retain it, but if she loses, the crown will be vacant.

In April, Carmouche was in the same situation when she faced and won against Deanna Bennett at Bellator 294 in the 4th round in their Bellator Women’s Flyweight championship fight.

Like her opponent, Ilima Lei Macfarlane is also coming off a win as she defeated Kana Watanabe at Bellator 295 on 22nd April 2023 by split decision.
