After a disappointing end to the 2022-23 NBA season, the Milwaukee Bucks and their fans are looking forward to the 2023 NBA Draft. The draft serves as a way to get the past season behind them and hopefully start the new one with a bang. With only one current Milwaukee Bucks draft pick available, and that pick being the last pick in the second round, many are wondering what the Bucks will do.

One of the rumored Milwaukee Bucks draft targets is Mike Miles Jr., which you be a huge win for both the Bucks and Miles in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Mike Miles Jr. NBA Draft Fit With the Bucks

One of the big problems Milwaukee had in the NBA Playoffs this year was a lack of scoring options. During his time at TCU, Mike Miles Jr. showed his ability as an incredible playmaker and scorer. With the struggles seen by Jrue Holiday in manufacturing offense in the postseason, Miles would fit right in.

One of the most impressive things about Miles’ game is his ability to score at any angle along with his strengths in the pick-and-roll game. Pairing that with Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ability to drive to the rim would be deadly in half-court sets. His ability to create his own shot and thread passes through incredibly tight spaces would also help make him a solid player at the NBA level.

Milwaukee Bucks Draft Strategy

The problem for Milwaukee is that they only have one pick in the draft. Historically, the Milwaukee Bucks try to take fliers with their second-round picks instead of players that could actually help the team out of the gate. While that is hard to find, it seems the Bucks rarely even try to get that. Since 2014, the Bucks’ second-round picks include Johnny O’Bryant, Damien Inglis, Malcolm Brogdon and Jordan Nwora.

With Brogdon and Nwora, the Bucks were looking to add a solid player to their team. Instead of taking a flier as they have historically, they took players who won in college and proved that they were ready for the next step. Mike Miles Jr. is a very similar player in the sense that he is clearly ready for the next step. While he probably cannot step in as a starter off the bat, the Bucks would be able to let him learn in the backup role and take over when Jrue is done in Milwaukee.
