  • Date: Thursday, June 30
  • Time: 4:00 PM ET

Standing in their way are the ‘Girls in Green’. Ireland was regarded as one of the emerging teams in 2009 when they finished 5th place overall in that campaign but since then, they have lost their way somewhat as they finished 10th and 13th in 2013 and 2017 respectively. Coach Sarah Walsh will be hoping that her girls will be able to put on a better performance than the last time around and reclaim their lost spot among the best lacrosse teams out there.

Ireland and New Zealand women’s Lacrosse Championship 2022 Time and Venue:

The Girls in Green will be facing off against New Zealand on Thursday, June 30, at Tiger Field in Towson, Maryland at 4:00 PM ET.

What To expect from the encounter:

Both teams look pretty balanced on the paper and are expected to make it into the next round in the pool D. The Kiwi team is on the rise since its last expedition in 2017 and have got the mix of experience and young talent in their ranks. Their star player, Sally Rutherford will be playing in her fourth lacrosse world championship. She will be assisted by the sister duo of Olivia and Megan Archer in the kiwi midfield. If the kiwi girls get in their groove early, it would be hard for Ireland to not let the Kiwi team run over them.

Ireland’s leading goal scorer at the 2017 World Championship, Rachel Ward is back with the national team for this campaign. She will have the services of her colleague, Maggie Egan at her disposal who led the team in draw controls in 2017. One of the surprises the Girls in Green could pose is the introduction of Katrina Dowd, a gold medal winner with the USA in 2013. Dowd changed her nationality since then and has been representing the British side.
