Drivers in line for championship Contention:
Scott Dixon will be starting in pole position for the second consecutive year as the Kiwi driver notched up the record for the fastest pole-winning run in Indianapolis 500 history earlier in the qualifying race. The 41-year-old clocked an amazing speed four-lap average speed of 234. 046 mph breaking the record of the late Scott Brayton who had set it to 233.718 mph set in 1996.
He will be up against the four-time Indy 500 winner, Hélio Castroneves who will be starting the race in the 27th position. The defending champion, joined A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and mentor Rick Mears as the only four-time winners of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” last May. He also happens to be one of the most experienced drivers on the grid.
The two-time winner Takuma Sato and the Australian, Will Power will start their quest for the title in row 4. Sato won the championship in 2017 and 2020, while Power won his maiden title in 2018. Both drivers are all ready to go and put on a show for their fans back home.
