CM Punk vs. MJF: Dog collar match rules for AEW Revolution 2022

(Acording to Fansided ) The rules are pretty simple. Punk and MJF will each wear leather dog collars around their necks. However, both collars will be connected by a steel chain, which can be used as a weapon by either performer. The only way to win this match is by pinfall or submission.

This is not the first time that a dog collar match took place in an AEW ring. Cody Rhodes took on the late Brodie Lee for the TNT Championship on the Oct. 7, 2020 episode of Dynamite. Rhodes won the match to regain the title.

Punk and MJF are taking each other on in a one-on-one match for the second time. They previously wrested on Dynamite on Feb. 2, which MJF won after hitting Punk with the Dynamite Diamond ring when the referee was not looking.

After defeating MJF’s Pinnacle stablemates, FTR, in a tag team match with Jon Moxley, Punk had earned his choice of match against his rival. Punk informed MJF that they would be competing in a dog collar match at Revolution.

On the February 9 episode of Dynamite, after successfully defending the AEW World Championship, “Hangman” Adam Page was confronted by Adam Cole, who indicated his intentions to challenge Page for the championship as he had reached the top of the rankings to become the number one contender. The following week, the match was made official for Revolution.

MJF revealed in a heartfelt promo the effect that Punk leaving wrestling in 2014 had on him, which generated sympathy from his idol. But on the March 2 Dynamite, MJF hugged Punk before kicking him below the belt and bloodying him with the Dynamite Diamond to give a glance into how brutalizing this match at Revolution will truly be.
