The NASCAR Cup Series drivers are set to take on Michigan International Speedway this weekend. The two-mile track will host the 2022 FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday, August 7th. Following a wreck-filled race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, the NASCAR Playoffs cut line expanded a bit as Kevin Harvick stumbled into a DNF result. However, Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. spun on the final lap and thus failed to capitalize on the Harvick mishap significantly.
Blaney won at Michigan last year and is hoping to get the job done again so he can officially clinch his spot into the playoffs. Ross Chastain will also be looking to get back on track after his 30-second time penalty on the final restart of last weekend’s race. The controversial move came as he ducked off the track and went down the access road that NASCAR put in place. The ensuing penalty dropped him from second to 27th on the finishing grid. Luckily for Chastain, he is locked into the playoffs with his two wins.
In addition to Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race, the Xfinity Series will take to Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. In both cases, time is running out for drivers to secure a playoff spot via a regular-season race win. Will a new winner emerge in either series this weekend? Read on for the complete 2022 NASCAR FireKeepers Casino 400 racing and TV schedule and race start time.
