As the Lightning continue to run the league, the newest NHL team, the Vegas Golden Knights, continue to prove all doubters wrong. 34 games into the season and the Knights still don’t have double-digit defeats, with only the Lightning having less. As the Golden Knights continue to take the NHL by storm, they continue to hold the best home record, with just two regulation losses in 18 games. Nobody truly knows how the season may end for the Golden Knights, but for the time being, this is a true contender and a team that nobody will want to face as…

It seems like the same team as been on top for a lifetime, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have been that much better then everyone else. The question comes after that; who is number two? It seemed like the Los Angeles Kings, until they went on a skid. Then the Blues took over, but they lost winger Jaden Schwartz and have not been as good since. So who is behind the Lightning? Time to find out! Last Week’s Rankings Here are this week’s power rankings! Biggest Movers Chicago Blackhawks: Up 8 spots from 19 to 11 Toronto Maple Leafs: Down…

The rest of the NHL continue to wait for the Tampa Bay Lightning to have a drop in production, but much like Antonio Brown in the NFL, they continue to produce. As the Lightning continue to play the best hockey in the country, the Arizona Coyotes continue to play the worst. Those two teams have been consistent, but the rest of the NHL continues to jockey for position as we make our way through the holiday season. Last Week’s Rankings Here are this week’s power rankings! Biggest Movers Washington Capitals: Up six spots from 15 to 9 Dallas Stars: Down…

Sometimes it takes some teams a little bit longer to get their season going. For the Montreal Canadiens, it took about two months. But after a 10-1 thrashing of the Detroit Red Wings this week, the Canadiens have now won five-straight and are finally over .500. Oh yeah, they got goaltender Carey Price back, who has allowed just six goals in five games since he returned from injury. The Canadiens still have a ways to go, but with the resurgence of their offense and the return of Carey Price, this is a team nobody wants to play right now. The…

We are just over a quarter into the NHL season and contenders are beginning to distance themselves from pretenders. For all 31 NHL teams, there’s something good and bad to say. We are going to look at what is keeping some teams afloat and what is sinking others. Anaheim Ducks Good: Rickard Rakell. People thought last season may have been a fluke, putting up career highs in goals (33) and points (51), but after 22 games this season, he has 8 goals, 10 assists, and 18 points. Rakell is on pace to set new career highs in assists (37)…

The Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils completed the second trade of the NHL season, making a deal that sends centerman Adam Henrique, left winger Joseph Balndisi and a 2018 3rd round pick to the Ducks for defender Sami Vatanen and a conditional draft pick. The Ducks needed to find offense, with injuries to its top two centerman, Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler. Henrique will give the Ducks an offensive boost, as he has four goals and 14 assists in 24 games this season after scoring 20 and collecting 40 points last season. Blandisi will also give the Ducks some…

The top will stay the same this week, as the Lightning had a bit of a slip up, but are still the most dominant team in the NHL. The movement begins in the middle, where the Flyers and Senators have hit free fall mode, as they have lost seven and six in a row, respectively, as neither team is scoring or getting great goaltending. The Rangers and Capitals, however, are heading the other way. The Rangers have won four in a row, as Henrik Lundqvuist looks like King Henrik again and Alex Ovechkin is back scoring goals for the Capitals.…

The Tampa Bay Lightning continue their reign up top, but it looks as if one team is slowly gaining ground. The Toronto Maple Leafs had a perfect week and have now won six games in a row. Man, the Lightning are rolling. After coming into the week at 11-2-2, many people, including me, thought they may slip up this week heading out west to take on the Sharks, Kings, and Ducks. The Lightning proved many of us wrong and solidified their spot at the top for the second straight week with a 3-0-0 road trip and are proving to be the team to beat early on in the NHL season. The Blues and Kings continue to trail the Lightning and sit second and third. The Vegas Golden Knights also continue to be a feel good story, as…
